Spring surrounds this old barn in Roxbury CT
Trees are coming to life and wild flours are beginning to bloom in the surrounds of this old barn in the countryside of Roxbury CT. The original barns sits in the back as a new addition is on the left, apparent from it’s cinder block foundation. One of the images shows the rear side of the new addition with the original silo springing forth to the rear.

Another old barn in gorgeous Roxbury CT
Another address on our list for Cheryl and I as we went barn hopping during a gorgeous spring afternoon in Roxbury CT. Home to only around 2300 residents, with little commercial development and a lot of farm land, this journey was a true pleasure. I decided to take in all the beautiful stone work in the lot opposite this barn. I don’t know if that land belonged to the barn owner or not but I felt it enhanced the image. Well kept barn on the side of the driveway……….
This barn is located just adjacent to the main home that is on the right side of the driveway out of the picture. It’s obvious that the homeowners have done a good job keeping it in tip top shape. Beautiful Roxbury CT!
Located in eastern CT about a 20-25 minute ride east of Waterbury CT sits the lovely town of Roxbury CT. Settled in 1796 with a current population of around 2200 people you feel like you’ve gone back in time. It was so nice to see such an expansive area that had not been disturbed by the modern trend of “farmland to residential/commercial use”. Cheryl and I didn’t have time to drive through the entire town but all the area’s we were in seemed like original undisturbed farmland many of which had barns still standing. Some of which were working farms today. This particular barn was the gem of the day…

Old white barn in Roxbury CT
This was another Roxbury CT barn that Cheryl and I had on our list today. It was a beautiful day for a ride in the awesome Roxbury countryside. This old barn has seen better days. Because I’m a barn nut I think it has a very nice look to it, at least from this angle. However the opposite side had large gaping holes, the floor is rotting out, the roof is leaking and it’s open to wild life. Picture perfect!
First on our list of barns to photograph this Saturday afternoon in April was this absolutely pristine barn in Woodbury CT. We chase barns and we’ve seen a lot of them but few will stack up to the maintenance that this barn has seen over the years. It was so well kept that I almost thought someone was living in it. However, I couldn’t see any drapery in the windows so I’d have to assume that it still functions as a barn. Barn – Mount Carmen Ave., Hamden CT
Looks like the barn to the right/rear was probably the original and the barn in the foreground was added at a later time. These barns are situated on a nice piece of property on Mount Carmel Ave. in Hamden. This road is probably best known for Sleeping Giant State Park and Quinnipiac University. Hopefully the owner is able to tend to the gaping hole in the roof before too much serious deterioration is done. Other than that the exterior has been preserved fairly well.
