Sunset at Osborndale State Park, Derby CT
Cheryl and I had never been to Osborndale State Park in Derby before so we decided to give it a go. It was a cold winters day and very few people were there. We parked in the designated parking area and it was a one minute walk to the pond. We were hoping to see ducks and geese but nothing. Cheryl wanted to photograph birds and headed over to the woods adjacent to the pond and waited. She came away with a nice red winged black bird and a woodpecker shot. I had a short zoom on my camera which was not conducive to birding so I tried to find…

Scoville Reservoice – Wolcott CT
Woodtick “Scoville” Reservoir Scoville Road Wolcott CT On June 9th of 2022 Cheryl and I decided to head over to the Woodtick Reservoir, known to locals as the “Scoville” Reservoicr. I had seen images of the reservoir area on the internet and saw some photo opp’s that I wanted to take advantage of. It was a beautiful sunny Summers day, approx. 85 degrees with limited humidity. The reservoice is approx. 120 acres large and is surrounded by tall, well established trees, that have been there forever. The town, many years, back, must have made a trail that follows the lake around its circumference. This path was plenty wide enough to…

Olson’s Bridge in Deep River CT
While “barn hunting” in Deep River CT the Olson’s covered bridge (private property) presented a beautiful site on manicured acres of property. A nice winding road led up to the bridge allowing access to the other side of a small creek which fed into a pond. As this was private property I was forced to put a long lens on the camera and take my images from the road side. I understand that in the winter they put a beautiful wreath on the side of the bridge, which when snow covered, makes for a gorgeous wintry shot. You can rest assured I will be back when the snow flies. Photographed…

Southbury CT Barn
This is a composite photograph of three images: Barn and lawn were photographed in Southbury CT on 01/05/17 with a Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55. 1/200th, f11, ISO 200. Pond, tree’s and surrounding foliage were photographed on the property of Lyman Orchards in Middlefield CT on 10/22/12 with a Sony Nex 7 and Sony 18-55. 1/100th, f11, ISO100. Fence – info not recorded. I created the composite, for artistic reasons, because the setting where the barn was photographed was a winters day in January and there were no leaves on the tree’s and all the foliage was dormant.
