Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge, Simsbury CT
Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge 1 Old Bridge Rd. Simsbury, CT 06070 Cheryl and I were driving all over Simsbury CT one beautiful Saturday afternoon checking off our list of “must have” shots. We were focusing on old barns and didn’t have this shot on our list. It was by shear luck that we happened by it and were taken by it’s serenity and beauty. It was built in 1892. Barn, 99 Terry’s Plain Rd., Simsbury CT
While barn hunting through the historic district of Simsbury CT, with my wife Cheryl, we came upon this huge beautiful barn to add to our collection. I couldn’t find any data on this barn but I would guess it was built during the 1800’s and maintained nicely over the years. Due to it’s long, rectangular shape, I suspect it was a location for town meetings and public dances at one time. It’s hi, almost modern looking windows, set it apart from most barns of that era. I would love to see what it looks like on the inside but that’s not going to happen. Photographed with a Nikon D7100, 24MP…

Barn at Mount Pleasant Farm, Torrington CT
I was barn hunting in Torrington and, on a whim, took a ride down University Dr., in hopes of finding some barns. Unless I researched ahead of time I always pick the roads that are out in the outskirts of town and in the country as much as possible. This road led me to this beautiful barn. I also found another beautiful barn with a gorgeous silo. I will post that separately. After I got home I realized that this barn was part of a bed and breakfast Inn. The barn is rented out for weddings and such. The large open floor lens itself beautifully to dances. For more information…
