Our Condolences for the loss of a great man…..On November 30th, 2018 President George H. W. Bush passed away.  We thank you for your service to this country.  We pray that you are joined at the gates of heaven with your wife Barbara, who you adored so very much.  Rest in Peace Mr. President.

Bush Compound

Kennebunkport, ME

While in Maine Cheryl and I couldn’t resist paying a visit to our 41st President George H.W. Bush’s “summer home”. The property houses several buildings including the  main “home” of the Bush’s, guest homes, and a house for secret service agents.

As expected the main gate and property are protected year round by secret service agents. The land is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on three sides as shown in the picture.

Rumor has it that if the Texas flag is flying then President Bush is on the grounds. The Texas flag was flying the day we stopped by so we are assuming the President was in.

The property has been in the family for more than a century, changing hands several times. Upon the death of Herbie Walker in 1977, the property again went up for sale and was purchased by Herbie’s nephew, George H. W. Bush*.  The estate has since remained in the Bush family. President H.W. Bush spent most of his childhood here.  As adults, Barbara and his children spent a considerable amount of time at the compound.

I’m sad to announce that a couple of months after I took these pictures, on November 30, 2018, President Bush passed away. We thank him for his service to our country. Our condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
