Product Review: ProMaster CL33RGB & CL36RGB lights
As a now retired Certified PPA Professional Photographer with over 30 years experience I was pleased to write this review when asked by ProMaster. My focus had been on weddings, portraiture, and events. These days I spend my time on landscapes, table top, product shots and macro photography. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on their Chroma CL33RGB & CL36RGB connect LED lights. Most photographers will tell you that they’d rather have good light than a good composition. Lighting makes or breaks any image from macro to landscapes and everything in between. Well thanks to these two ProMaster affordable, easy to use, convenient portable lights you too can take…

Product Review – ProMaster RL100 LED Ringlight
https://promaster.com/Product/1888 Disclaimer: ProMaster did not ask me to do this review and I am not affiliated with them. After several years of use for macro or tabletop photography I loved this product so much that I felt the need to write a review for it. I actually can’t remember when I purchased this item but it was a few years back. I paid $99.95 at the time and, interestingly enough, Promaster offers this product on their website still today for only $99.95. I spent most of my recent years as a landscape photographer but this past year that has changed, mostly due to semi-retirement, and this ring light has gotten…

Product shot – Chic Watch
This “Chic” watch came from my wife’s Grandmother who passed many years ago so we’re not sure when she purchased the watch. However, based on her ownership of it and the fact that she lived 93 years the watch was manufactured anywhere from 50-100 years ago. I cannot find anything on the internet with respect to Chic watch manufacturing in Singapore. Photographed with a Sony A7RV 61mp mirrorless camera and a Sony 90mm F2.8 G OSS MACRO lens. One lens mounted ring light only was used. White reflective cards were strategically placed around the face of the watch to even out the light distribution. .3 seconds, f20, ISO 100, MANUAL…

Vintage Books – Shakespeares Complete Works, c.1915
Shakespeares Complete Works, 10 volume, published by McKay c. 1915 This volume of books was published about 109 years ago and, in my opinion, was worthy of a photograph. Because the covers and bindings were fraying so badly with considerable signs of deterioration I wanted to make sure that I captured that detail in my images. To do so I took (4) separate images of the books and bookends allowing me to get quite close with the 85mm lens. I then stiched them together in photoshop ultimately rendering a 16 x 9 image. I used a MACRO lens and took a close up image of a small 2″ x 3″…

Product Shot – Bottle of Wine
An image of a Colorfast, vintage 2021, bottle of wine and glass. The image was photographed in a studio setting using (3) lights, some with red/blue colored output. This background was created from 8.5 x 11.00″ white paper sheets which were folded into the shapes you see and attached together. They were lit from one side with a red/blue LED diffused light. The paper was enlarged “stretched” in photoshop so they would fill the background. The wine bottle was shot twice. Once lit from behind with a red gel’d light and once from in front with a 5600k clear light. This rendered the label exactly as it would appear on…
