Reflections in Hartford
[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”] While in Hartford recently I decided to walk around the block with my camera. Chiefly because I wanted to try my hand at reflections in the building glass. As you look at the photo the first thing I’d like to point out is that I didn’t have an ultra wide angle lens. I shot this with an 18mm (35mm equiv.=28.8). I could not go wide enough to capture enough of the building and surrounding area. As a result the building is a bit over powering in the photo. Nevertheless my intent was to experiment with reflections. I think the reflection itself came out ok but I…

CT River Museum – Essex, CT
[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]The CT River Museum located in Essex, CT is an enjoyable museum to take in for folks of all ages. The museum preserves and celebrates the cultural and natural heritage of the Connecticut River and its valley. They offer historical manuscripts, books, art, and artifacts of regional significance. They also have a reproduction of “The Turtle” shown in my photo gallery. For further information on the turtle go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_(submersible) Pick a nice summers day to visit the museum. Why? Because, at least for me, part of the joy of visiting the museum was walking out on the dock and watching the sail boats bob up and…

Giuffrida Park
[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]Guifrida Park is a bit of a hidden gem located on the east side of Meriden, CT utilized most by locals. It comprises about 600 acres and it’s beautiful lake is most prominent as many walking trails wind around it. The park is great for picnics, sunbathing, hiking, nature walks, and just general exploration. In the winter the terrain is great for snow shoe hikes. There are a couple of outlooks along the trails offering beautiful views. I stopped by today to see if I could grab a last minute “fall foliage” photo before it slips away on us into winter. I was surprised to see mid-day…

Memorial Bridge Springfield, MA
[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]During early October of 2012 I attempted to capture a decent photograph of downtown Springfield, MA with the adjoining Memorial Bridge (1922). I was concerned that there may not be a good vantage point to take this shot. I eventually ended up just west of Agawam’s sewage treatment facility. This was well off the main road into an area that, frankly, looked like it was used by kids to party in. All that aside it allowed me to render this picture.
