An inside glimpse of Yale University

    July 24, 2015 / No Comments

[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”6000″ height=”750″ lightbox=”true”]Cheryl and I attended a “photography meet up” held by Milford Photo, mid April, at the Yale University Campus.  It was a brief hour and a half guided tour which took us through some of the interior parts of the campus that we would otherwise not have access to. After another grueling Connecticut winter we were…

Old barn & US flag, July 4th, Rocky Hill CT

    July 21, 2015 / No Comments

It was the 4th of July weekend and Cheryl and I were travelling down a side road in Rocky Hill, CT when we saw this beautiful old barn.  The site of Old Glory hanging from it’s side made it special.  I’ve since been by this barn and the flag has been removed.  Apparantly put up to commemorate the 4th only.

    July 20, 2015 / No Comments

[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”4000″ lightbox=”true”]I like folding knives.  We used to call them “jack knives”. I like how they look, I like how they feel and I like using them. Withering Barns, east side of Wallingford, CT

    July 19, 2015 / 2 Comments

A couple of nicely aging barns on S. Branford Rd. about 30 yards south of the Whirlwind Hill intersection.  They’re part of a cattle/horse farm that occupies most of the property adjacent to these four corners. At one time Whirlwind Hill was, with it’s dairy farms, a quiety and remote part of town.  Like the rest of the town, it too, can’t…

    Abandoned Mill, Woonsocket RI

    July 19, 2015 / No Comments

This is an old abandoned mill on Railroad Ave., in Woonsocket, RI.  It’s situated a stones throw north of the Manville Dam (see attached photo).  Rhode Island was, back in the day, known for their mills, mostly textile in nature.  Like many mills of the day the town was built up around them.  This mill sat adjacent to a rail line…

    Abandoned Truck Terminal, Westfield MA

    July 19, 2015 / No Comments

Abandoned truck terminal, Falcon Drive, Westfield MA.  Just another sign of the times.  Less goods manufactured, less need for trucks and the terminals that house them.
