This is their 10th year holding this charity. During this week you’re able to stroll through winding paths of over (14) acres of sunflowers. Enjoying their beauty and taking photographs. For a $10.00 donation, (to benefit the charity), you’ll leave with a bouquet of sunflowers.     Thimble Islands during spring of 2015.

    [wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”5000″ lightbox=”true”]Now that the weather was getting nice out I wanted to take my camera down to the Stony Creek neighborhood of Branford, CT and photograph the famed “Thimble Islands”. The weather was delightful and it was just a joy to line up these beautiful island homes in the sights of my 80-400 Nikon lens.  The Thimble Islands number between 100-300, depending on what you would classify as a large rock or an actual island.  Only about 23 are actually inhabited.  Most, if not all of these homes, are summer get a ways.     Hartford Skyline from Wickham Park

    Wickham, 1329 W. Middle Tpke. Manchester, CT 06040.  Open April thru October. Parking: Mon.-Fri. $4, Sat., Sun. & holidays $5. Privately owned foundation spanning Manchester and East Hartford, CT. I  visited Wickham Park for the first time in late April for the purposes of capturing a photo of the Hartford Skyline.  This was my first, (and only visit so far), to the park. What an absolute gem of a park! It’s 250 acres are well maintained and offer a variety of venues which include:  wildlife center, bird sanctuary, open fields, clear view of Hartford, tennis, volleyball, horseshoes, approx.
