Boothbay ME
Cheryl and I were looking for a little downtime and found it in the quiet, quaint, seafaring village of Boothbay ME. Population approx. 3000 people many of which don’t live there year round. It is a summer tourist attraction although we arrived in mid September and most of that bustling activity was behind us. We stayed at the Tugboat Inn. Our part of the hotel was built on a peer that went out into the harbor consisting of about 16 rooms (best of my recollection). Permaquid Lighthouse, ME
Cheryl and I had targeted the Permaquid Lighthouse in New Harbor ME as a must shot for us. Upon arriving, in early September, we were quick to confirm that we certainly were not disappointed. This was perhaps one of the most serene peaceful and beautiful locations that we had ever photographed. Unfortunately my image doesn’t pay justice to what you really feel when you’re here. Boathouse in York ME
While driving around scoping out potential shots we drove by this old boathouse and immediately knew it had shot potential. We then got up early one of the mornings, during our stay at York ME, and headed over. Of course, the buoy’s are what makes it so eye catching. We were fortunate to get there before the workers or boaters arrived and had the place to ourselves. Refurbishing the iconic Greyledge Farm Barn!
So I set my sail to Roxbury CT on this absolutely gorgeous fall day in hopes of photographing the iconic Greyledge Farm Barn. Well, much to my surprise, upon arriving, the barn was being refurbished. There were workers removing and replacing individual boards on the exterior cladding. How many workers did you count? If you counted (7) you were correct! Look carefully and you’ll find them all. So the other big surprise was that the American Flag, which this barn is known for, is missing from the front end where you see the (3) workers on the ladder. Not sure if this would be classified as a barn or a storage shed but either way I was struck by it’s beautiful appearance. Tucked into a small hill and adorned with ivy it was unusual and had eye appeal. Harwinton CT is its home. Christian Barn in Harwinton CT
I love everything about this stoic looking barn sitting high on a Harwinton CT hillside. It has quite a presence and the addition of a cross made crudely out of two pieces of unfinished lumber tells it all. Perhaps there is a message as the bright light from above breaks through the clouds and makes it’s presence on the barn.
