Fall at the park…………
Early in my life I spent lived 15+ years in Meriden CT. Besides their library the one thing that I took considerable advantage of, and still do to this day, is Hubbard Park. It’s a beautiful sprawling park at with Castle Craig looking down upon it from atop the mountain. It’s visited by individuals, groups and families all week long. It was a real gift bestowed upon the City of Meriden by Mr. Hubbard back in the day. If you were to visit the park and take the approx. 1.5 mile road that leads up to Castle Craig one of the first vista’s you’ll pass is the Meriden Reservoir on…

Reflections of MacKenzie Reseroir, Wallingford CT
On our way back from photographing a barn on the East side of Wallingford Cheryl wanted to stop and photograph some ducks flying around MacKenzie Reservoir. While I was waiting for her I looked for a shot. This is what I came up with. What appealed to me about this image was the absolute symmetry this cluster of tree’s presented. It was completed balanced from top to bottom and left to right. You don’t see that a lot. Photographed with a Sony A7RV 61mp mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens at 24mm. 1/320th, f18, ISO 1000, Aperture Priority

Scoville Reservoice – Wolcott CT
Woodtick “Scoville” Reservoir Scoville Road Wolcott CT On June 9th of 2022 Cheryl and I decided to head over to the Woodtick Reservoir, known to locals as the “Scoville” Reservoicr. I had seen images of the reservoir area on the internet and saw some photo opp’s that I wanted to take advantage of. It was a beautiful sunny Summers day, approx. 85 degrees with limited humidity. The reservoice is approx. 120 acres large and is surrounded by tall, well established trees, that have been there forever. The town, many years, back, must have made a trail that follows the lake around its circumference. This path was plenty wide enough to…

Saville Dam, Barkhamsted CT
[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”5000″ height=”800″ lightbox=”true”]Nestled in a forest in the small town of Barkhamsted, CT pop. 3700, (about 20 miles northwest of Hartford), is the Saville Dam. This is an (8) mile long reservoir, which primarily services Hartford, that will drop your jaw. It was built in 1936 and was named after Chief Engineer Caleb Mills Saville. By 1940 the reservoir had reached it’s maximum level. At (8) miles in length it’s volume is considerable. The gatehouse has a castle/mote type look to it. Absolutely stunning, especially with this grand reservoir and deep blue sky as a back drop. On the west side is a gorgeous spillway whose bed and walls…
