Macro Close Up of Kitchen Whisk

This image began with an everyday kitchen whisk used to mix eggs and the like. I lit one side with a blue light and the other with a red light. I utilized a red/blue gel with the overhead light. I came in as close as possible to the head of the whisk with the macro lens. The resulting image is shown. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61mp, mirrorless camera and a Sony 90mm F2.8 MACRO G OSS lens. 1/5th, F8, ISO 100, Manual Mode, (65) image focus stack.

Macro Close Up of Potatoe Masher

Here’s an example of how you can create art with an everyday kitchen tool. This image began with a potatoe masher as you can see in one of the images. I backlit the object with a blue light, side lit one side with another blue light and the other side with a red light. I then came in tight on the end of the potatoe masher with the lens. The resulting image is shown. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61mp, mirrorless camera and a Sony 90mm F2.8 MACRO G OSS lens. 1/4, f8, ISO 100, Manual Mode (55) image focus stack.

    Macro Photography – Potato Masher

Used a simple potato masher I got out of the kitchen cabinet. The shot didn’t work without lighting. So I added blue light coming in from the back, a red light from the left and a blue light from the right. The shot then had some depth and character. I also placed the camera in APS-C mode which gave me extra reach. You can see the before and after pictures attached above. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61MP mirrorless camera in APS-C mode. 1/4″, f8, ISO 100, MANUAL MODE Sony FE 90mm F2.8 MACRO at 135mm (APS-C mode)

    My 65th Birthday Present!

My beautiful wife Cheryl commemorated by 65th birthday with this beautiful CASE brand knife that she had inscribed. I’m now officially a senior citizen. I’ve been a collector of folding pocket knives for many years and this addition just made my day! I’m especially fond of CASE knives as they are made in the USA, good quality and are affordably priced. The American flag on the stag handle couldn’t have been more perfect for an old patriot like myself. Thank you honey!!! This knife was not photographed conventionally but rather I light painted it. Here’s the nitty gritty: 1. Knife was set up on a table top in my studio.…

    Ant on a pink plant

I happend to catch this ant wandering around a flower. Ants actually do seek nectar from flowers but because they have very little hair so there is no place for pollen to stick on them so they are rather poor pollenators. Photographed with: Nikon D7100, Nikon 40 mm MACRO lens, Nikon SB-400 flash (hand held off camera), tripod mounted. ISO 400, 1/100th, f11, MANUAL MODE.

    Swallowtail Butterfly

This butterfly was busy jumping from flower to flower. I believe in belongs to the Swallowtail family of which there are over 550 species but I’m no butterfly expert. Fun Facts:  Butterflies taste with their feet allowing them to quickly identify food sources.  They only consume liquids which are typically nectar.   Butterflies cannot fly below 55 deg. F.  Their ideal temperatures for thriving and flying are between 85-100 deg. F. On cold days they are forced to either shiver or bask in the sunshine to warm up their body temperatures. The lifespan of a butterfly consists of the caterpillar stage, the pupa stage and the adult butterfly stage. Depending…
