Nicely maintained barn in Middleton CT

Looks like the owner of this attractive barn on the corner of Country Club Rd. and Bell St. in Middletown CT has kept up with the wood exterior nicely.  It seems to have a nice even coat of stain and is aging nicely. Horse farm barn in Middletown CT

I don’t typically see this large gambrel style barn on horse farms so it was nice to come upon it.  This style is more typical of cow farms. I think it is a beautifully built barn and I particularly like it’s grand front entrance.  The sign on the front wall says “Old Farms Riding Club Middletown CT”. There wasn’t much activity the day I was there but this horse riding club appears to be active.  A residential neighborhood has cropped up around it but, I’m sure, at one time this was all rural land. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55, 3.5 – 5.6 @ 26mm. 1/600th, f8, ISO…

Setting sun on a beautifully aged Meriden barn.

I had my list of barns to find this day and when I came upon this one it did not disappoint.  Not only had it aged beautifully but, typically, any barn scene with majestic silos will usually shine in an image. Just on the other side of the barn, (out of picture), were about a half dozen dairy cows in a small pasture. Photographed with a Sony Nex 7, 24MP, mirrorless camera and Sony 18-55 mm lens at 36mm. 1/320th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture priority.

    Beauty comes from within…………

Beauty comes from within….within the barn that has two trees growing inside, that is.  Yup, this old weathered, half falling down barn has been in a dilapidated state for so long that two tree’s growing from within it have gotten to be over 20′ tall.  Here the lies the true beauty of why this barn stands out amongst the Deep River CT countryside.  You won’t see that every day, even among abandoned barns. Drowning in ivy…………Berlin CT

This beautiful old barn is slowly becoming one with nature as foliage overcomes it. I would think it’s a pretty fair assumption that this barn has been put out to pasture. I’m glad that it, at least, has not been torn down (yet?). There is still a story her to be told and, as far as I’m concerned, these old barns have charm until they can’t stand any longer. This barn was one of a handful on Orchard Rd. in Berlin CT. Photographed with Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55 lens at 40mm / 60mm equiv in 35. 1/160th, F11, ISO 100 A Two shots were taken: One of the…
