Surrounding foliage keeps this barn upright.

    September 23, 2019 / No Comments

This sun sets on this old barn in RT 80 in North Branford CT. I think it’s close to it’s final curtain call.  If you saw the other side, which I was unable to photograph without entering their property, you’d see the entire wall was missing and most of the roof.  I don’t know how much longer this barn has…

Well maintained barn with gorgeous rock foundation.

    September 18, 2019 / No Comments

This huge, structurally sound barn has clearly been well maintained since it’s origin in 1911.  I see a lot of barns and there are no weak spots here.  The windows, the siding, the roof and of course that fantastic stone foundation are all up to date. Cheryl and I visited The Comstock Bridge, which spans the Salmon River. It is located in East Hampton CT just off of Rt. 16 on Comstock Bridge Rd.  Built in 1840 the bridge has undergone a number of updates. As you view the interior picture you get a sense of how much wood has been replaced from the original. It’s…

Beautifully maintained barn in Newtown CT

    September 11, 2019 / No Comments

As I was barn searching along South Main St. on the outskirts of Newtown CT I was struck by the stellar condition of this very old barn.  The property owners had maintained this in such a manner that it is not only gorgeous but will last for many more years to come. As I was across the street taking shots…

Old Glory sways in the gentle September breeze adding a touch of patriotism to this beautifully aging barn on Lovells Lane in Newtown CT. Photographed with a Sony Nex 7, 24 MP mirrorless camera and a Sony Carl Zeiss 24, 1.8 lens. 1/60th, f13, ISP 250, Aperture Priority
