Hillside Barn at Fish Family Farm, Bolton CT

Fish Family Farm Creamery 20 Dimock Ln Bolton, Connecticut This barn is located at the entrance road of the Fish Family Farm.  I found it to be quite beautiful in its uniqueness.  Not only is it built into the hillside but it has a unique entrance.  Surrounded by beautiful tree’s on a winding road gives it added ambiance. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55 mm @ 29 mm. 1/200th, f8, ISO 1600

    Old barn, Torrington CT

Beautiful old working barn on University Dr., in Torrington CT. There was a woman on a garden tractor mowing the lawn just out of sight to the left.  She was near me on the road so I asked her permission to take the photograph and if she wouldn’t mind if I entered in about 25′ on the driveway to take the image. She had no problem with it but moments later a large, barking German Shepard headed straight for me at full speed.  I thought, this is it, this is the day I get bit by a dog for my art. (laughing)  By God’s grace he stopped about two…

Beautiful aging barns in Woodbury CT

Nicely maintained and structurally sound cluster of two barns and a shed in Woodbury CT. The barn on the right is not fully seen in the image. SUGGESTION:  While photographing I walked up and down the roadway shooting these barns from various angles in my reflective vest. At one point the homeowner was in the driveway and glanced over at me quickly.  Very politely I said, from the roadway, that I’d like to explain what I was doing.  Still without setting foot on the property and making this person feel uneasy I explained that I’m just a hobby photographer who travels around the state photographing old barns.  I explained that…

    Barn in Bethlehem CT

Cheryl and I set out to photograph barns in Bethlehem CT and this is one of the beauties we found.  Still a working barn and is nicely maintained as it’s banked into a slight hill with an attractive hand laid stone retaining wall. NOTE: The original image shows a roadway right next to the barn and it overpowered the image.  For artistic purposes I removed the road in photoshop and created a “dirt” road. If you’re a barn hunter like me then Bethlehem is a great old country town to visit. Nikon D7100, Nikon 18-55 mm @ 24 mm 1/160th, f11, ISO 100
