Heritage Farm, Bolton CT
Beautiful Heritage Farm Barn with it’s majestic silo sits hi atop the hillside in scenic Bolton CT. I was quite a considerable distance away for this shot as they owned a lot of acreage around the barn and I’m limited to shooting from the roadside. I called on my Nikon 80-400 mm lens to get the reach I needed. Remember one of the advantages of a cropped sensor, (compared to full frame sensor’s), is that you get the advantage of a multiplier. This Nikon camera extends every lens by a multiplier of 1.5. So basically instead of 400 mm I had a reach of 600 mm. This allowed me to…

Fish Family Farm, Bolton CT
Fish Family Farm Creamery 20 Dimock Ln Bolton, Connecticut From what I read on their facebook page this farm is a favorite of the locals. They sell their own milk and ice cream right on the premises in their farm store. The milk truck reminded me of my youth where it was common place to see milk delivery in glass bottles. My Great Grandmother still got milk delivered right up until around 1975 when they stopped delivering. There would always be a layer of cream that rose to the top which she’d skim off and save for her coffee. They’d leave the milk inside the milk box which normally was…

Barn, 99 Terry’s Plain Rd., Simsbury CT
While barn hunting through the historic district of Simsbury CT, with my wife Cheryl, we came upon this huge beautiful barn to add to our collection. I couldn’t find any data on this barn but I would guess it was built during the 1800’s and maintained nicely over the years. Due to it’s long, rectangular shape, I suspect it was a location for town meetings and public dances at one time. It’s hi, almost modern looking windows, set it apart from most barns of that era. I would love to see what it looks like on the inside but that’s not going to happen. Photographed with a Nikon D7100, 24MP…
