Abandoned BG Graphics Sign Company, Meriden CT
For years and years I’ve driven by this abandoned BG Graphics building on the Berlin Turnpike in Meriden CT. I finally took the time to photograph it. When I see a building that has become completely engulfed by the surrounding environment I’m always intrigued. In front of the building was, at one time, a paved parking lot. However, nature has taken that over as well. I’m sure this company was thriving back in the day and, for whatever reason, it’s just a memory. Although I find abandoned building photography interesting that’s not to say that I’m not without empathy for the people and circumstances that led to this. I wish…

Abandoned House, Plantsville CT
Located on Meriden Waterbury Rd., this house was probably the home for a growing family at one time. However it’s since been left to age. Abandoned Old Church in Southbury CT
While Cheryl and I were on the hunt for barns in Southbury we stumbled upon this old gem. Which, of course, isn’t a barn. I thought, at first, that it was some type of meeting house back in the day. I wasn’t able to find anything on the internet about it so I reached out to the Southbury Historical Society. Their President was kind enough to write back to me. She informed me that this was a church from 1827 – 1942 and that the steeple had fallen off. It was eventually sold to the resident living next door. Its current status is a little sketchy. Having said all that I…

Abandoned Diner, Foster RI
I’ve driven by this diner for several years and I’ve never seen it open. It’s at the beginning of Rt 6 in Foster RI after you leave 395N in CT and cross into the RI state line. If anyone knows anything about the history of this diner please let us know. UPDATE: A reader advised me that in late 2023 the diner was torn down and it’s now a vacant lot. I had driven by in mid-December of 2023 and saw that for myself. I’m glad that this image was taken. Perhaps it’ll bring back some good memories for somebody. Photographed with a Sony Nex 7, 24.3MP mirrorless camera and…

Abandoned but a canvas to many………..Plymouth CT
Abandoned building in Plymouth CT. It’s been like this for years and years. It had to have been at least 15 years ago that I photographed this building but from the other side. I love the colorful graffiti. If you look carefully into the right side of the image you’ll see the silhouette of a woman standing in one of the openings. I don’t know what occupied this building back in the day. It’s very visible from the road and I’m sure one of our readers must know what this was. Please write in and let us know if you do. Photographed with a Sony A7RII, 42MP, full framed, mirrorless…

Abandoned in Roxbury CT
I was making my way into the very rural small town of Roxbury CT, in an effort to photograph barns, when I came upon these three gems. They were literally in the middle of nowhere. They were all adjacent to each other, in a triangular type pattern with one situated across the street from the two. The Town of Roxbury is situated in LItchefield County in the northwest corner of the state. It is composed of a couple of fairly good sized mountain ranges going through it as well as a valley between. With an elevation of 564 ft. I had a beautiful view of the surrounding fall foliage as…
