During our early September stay in Maine Cheryl and I visited the quaint coastal town of Ogunquit, (pop. approx. 1600), which is home to Perkins Cove. This was just a quick drive from York Maine where our hotel was.

We walked around Perkins Cove specifically as this cove was surrounded by water on three sides and was a small, quaint little paradise. It was full of unique boutiques, locally made merchandise and a couple of nice restaurants. Not to mention all the boating. It had the feel of Rockport MA’s artist community but was considerably smaller.

If you ever decide to go the best parking is on the left just before you actually enter the cove. There is a municipal parking lot about 200′ up the road into the Cove but we circled and circled and couldn’t land a spot. So at the end of the day it was worth the $10 or $15 bucks they charged us for all day parking. Plus, to be honest, it was a large unpaved lot but it allowed you to park your car away from others and prevent door opening damage if that’s a concern of yours. The municipal parking lot was rather cramped. This recommended lot is valet parking but I like to park my own car so I just told them that and they had no problem with it.

The featured image of the little white boat going through the harbor with the large house up on the rocks to the right was taken at the very far end of the cove. Hope you enjoy the shots of the area.
