The purpose in constructing this photo was to take an “environmental” photograph.  One which showed someone in their environment.  In this case it would be one’s work environment.

For this shot I framed the repairman by his own motor that he was repairing.

1)  Sony Nex 7, mirrorless, 24 mp camera.

2)  Tripod mounted, timed shutter release.

3)  On camera flash.

4) Fill light placed overhead and to the rear.

5) 1/60th, F11, ISO 800, Carl Zeiss 50mm, f 1.8.

Note:  I needed depth of field to keep the motor windings and the subject in focus.  I was able to stop down to f11 by adjusting my ISO to 800.  Fortunately this camera produces almost noise free images at 800.
