The East Haddam swing bridge is a steel truss design which connects the town of E. Haddam and Haddam, CT.  It spans the Connecticut River several miles north of Long Island Sound.

The bridge was believed to be constructed around 1912.  There have been engineering modifications since that time to ensure safety.

On the east side of the bridge sits the Goodspeed Opera House.  On the south west side are several boat launches. There are river cruises that depart from here in the summer.

It appears that pedestrians cross at their own risk.  There are no walking paths on the bridge.
