    Random Shots – Dowtown Hartford, CT

    Environmental Photography – “Electric Motor Repairman”

    The purpose in constructing this photo was to take an “environmental” photograph.  One which showed someone in their environment.  In this case it would be one’s work environment. For this shot I framed the repairman by his own motor that he was repairing. 1)  Sony Nex 7, mirrorless, 24 mp camera. 2)  Tripod mounted, timed shutter release. 3)  On camera flash. 4) Fill light placed overhead and to the rear. 5) 1/60th, F11, ISO 800, Carl Zeiss 50mm, f 1.8. Note:  I needed depth of field to keep the motor windings and the subject in focus.  I was able to stop down to f11 by adjusting my ISO to 800. …

    Covered Bridge – Comstock, CT

    [wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”6000″ height=”800″ lightbox=”true”]All photo’s taken with the Samsung Galaxy Note II smartphone camera. The Comstock Bridge, in East Hampton, CT, was built in 1840 over the Salmon River.  In 1976 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.  This seems to be a frequented location with fly fisherman and certainly provides for a scenic, serene environment.  Whether you’re a photographer or just someone that enjoys the beauty of the past you’ll appreciate stopping by.

    Abandoned Steel Bridge – New Milford, CT

    [wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”6000″ height=”800″ lightbox=”true”]I didn’t have very good access to this bridge and only had my smartphone camera phone with me.  Due to road hazards I wasn’t even able to park the car and walk across to bridge to get a better side view.  However I’m just trying to document abandoned steel bridges in the area so it is what it is. New Milford is located in the far northwest part of CT.  As you can see this area is very remote.  Not being from the area it almost seemed a little uncomfortable taking the entrance shot, (where the orange barrels are), because the inlet into the woods was…
