    Scoville Reservoice – Wolcott CT

Woodtick “Scoville” Reservoir Scoville Road Wolcott CT On June 9th of 2022 Cheryl and I decided to head over to the Woodtick Reservoir, known to locals as the “Scoville” Reservoicr. I had seen images of the reservoir area on the internet and saw some photo opp’s that I wanted to take advantage of. It was a beautiful sunny Summers day, approx. 85 degrees with limited humidity. The reservoice is approx. 120 acres large and is surrounded by tall, well established trees, that have been there forever. The town, many years, back, must have made a trail that follows the lake around its circumference. This path was plenty wide enough to…

    Nubble Lighthouse, York ME

Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse Sohier Park, York Beach York, ME 03909 PH: (207) 363-1040 June of 2021 Cheryl and I decided to drive up to York Maine for the purpose of photographing the Cape Neddick Nubble Lighthouse. Known to locals as simply “the Nubble” lighthouse. It was an absolutely beautfiul June day upon arrival replete with family’s, couples, singles and a fair amount of scuba divers on shore ready to jump in. It was moderately crowded but we managed to get, what seemed like, the last available parking slot. Once down on the rocks with the tripod set up it was just a matter of waiting patiently for visitors to…

    Abandoned Mill – Paxton MA

Moores State Park in Paxton MA is a nice tranquil area with a good sized pond, brook, waterfall and 18th century sawmill. This is the image I took of the sawmill mid September of 2021. Unfortunately the better shot is from the backside which shows the water wheel and the brook running alongside but I wasn’t able to gain access for a good shot. Normally I wouldn’t have even photographed the waterfall because the lighting was so horrendous but knowing I may never be back I did so anyway. I took a series of (40) shots in rapid succession at 1/30th, F11, ISO 100. I then merged them in camera…

    Fawn in the woods…..Prospect CT

I was fortunate that I was able to photograph this young fawn in the woods, as he made eye contact with me, for the few seconds he stood still before running off. Photographed with a Sony A7RII, 42.3 MP, full framed DSLR and a SONY 200-600 mm, 5.6-6.3 G OS lens at 600mm. ISO 800, 1/250th, f6.3, Aperture Priority

    Ant on a pink plant

I happend to catch this ant wandering around a flower. Ants actually do seek nectar from flowers but because they have very little hair so there is no place for pollen to stick on them so they are rather poor pollenators. Photographed with: Nikon D7100, Nikon 40 mm MACRO lens, Nikon SB-400 flash (hand held off camera), tripod mounted. ISO 400, 1/100th, f11, MANUAL MODE.

    Need rocks?

While driving around I noticed this unique pile of rocks on the outskirts of Hamden CT. Upon closer inspection it appeared to be how a local company advertising that they had rocks for sale. Accross the street there was another sign indicating that there was a nursery at the end of a dirt road. You can’t see the nursery from the road but if you’re interested you can learn more at: https://www.brokenarrownursery.com/plant-lists Photographed with a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra camera phone on auto mode.

Abandoned Ideal Forging Factory, Southington CT

A cornerstone of the community for nearly a century the Ideal Forging Company filed bankruptcy in 2003 and closed. At it’s heyday it employed nearly 1000 people but was demolished to make way for new housing in 2015. I myself, personally, called upon this factory as a field salesman for 35 years. The company sat upon approx. 14 acres of land in downtown Soutnington CT and consisted of numerous buildings. I only show one of the shops and the main office building in this blog. I don’t have a date for these images but I believe I took them in 2004. They were photographed with a: Olympus E-10, 4MB, digital…
