Reflections of a Slinky
This was a plastic slinky I purchased at the local Dollar General store for about $1.00. This proves even senior citizens can enjoy a slinky. Perhaps in a different way than a five year old but I got my dollars worth out of it. (smile) Photographed with a Sony A7RII, 42.3 MP mirrorless camera and a Sony 90 mm MACRO F2.8 G OSS lens. Two light setup, 5600K. Shot on a black acrylic reflective tile. 2.5 seconds, F16, ISO 100, MANUAL MODE, (16) shot focus stack using a manual focusing rail. Helicon Focus to complete the stack into one final image.

Swirling Abstract
I was simply trying to create art using a 12″ long kitchen whisk in which the steel was coated with red rubber. To me this has kind of an outer space look but the beauty of abstract art is that it takes on whatever meaning you interpret it as. I set up the shot in my studio in a pitch dark room using a black background. The whisk was illuminated with an on camera flash then the red swirls were light painted by hand with a small torch and a red slip on filter over the end. Jason D. Page is, sort of, the Godfather of Light Painting. His work…

Studio Shot – Vintage Phone Booth
This is an approximately 18″ lantern from my house. It had a candle inside which I removed. The intent was to replicate a vintage phone booth. The top had been doctored and the words “PHONE” were added. I set this shot up in a pitch dark studio light painting it by hand to life. I used a Sony A7RM2, 42 mp, mirrorless camera with a Sony 24-105 F4 G OSS lens @ 42mm. 4 seconds, F8, ISO 50, MANUAL MODE, (1) hand torch.

Flaming feather!
This is a close up shot of a portion of a bird feather. I snipped off the upper portion of the feather and pulled away many of the feathers along the stem to achieve this look. It was photographed in studio setting with studio lighting. I felt that feather mimicked the look of being on fire hence the name of this blog entry. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61mp, mirrorless camera and a Sony 90mm F2.8 Macro lens. 1.6 sec., F16, ISO 100, MANUAL MODE
