Abandoned

Eddie’s Abandoned Bakery Shop

What struck me odd about this abandoned bakery was not so much that it was abandoned but rather where it was located.  The picture gives the impression that it’s in the middle of the woods but it sits in a rural residential neighborhood of Southington CT. There are beautiful homes up and down this street and no commerical or retail entities.  So you wouldn’t expect this.  I suspect it was built before the neighborhood really took off.  Who know’s?  It just looked kind of odd to me but I’m sure the neighbors were happy to have good baked bread so close to home.  When it went out of business I don’t know.

So I live right down the road from Eddie’s bakery and I have noticed recently they have cleared some brush and you can now see the building again I think that they’re trying to do something with it but I’m not sure what, does anybody know?

Eddies was the best source locally for fresh baked babka bread…. at Easter it is a Polish families requirement. Eddies always had a huge supply at Easter…. but rarely an ything else during the rest of the year. They even had some available at local stores. i live very near…. that was the only time they seemed open…. Easter time….. They stopped producing and selling maybe 10 years ago…. and the property went downhill…. it seems too bad…. but it IS a strange location for a bakery.

Wow…”only time they seemed open..Easter time…”. Must be hard to make a living open a few days a year (smile). Thanks for stopping by Thomas. Appreciate your comment.
