Technology comes to an old barn
Cheryl and I were barn chasing in East Hampton CT and photographed this barn which was topped with a solar panel on Hurd Park Rd. I’ve photographed a lot of barns and this is the first one I’ve seen with a solar panel. I like the old tractor they had situated on the property. The Portland Bridge, Portland CT
To us locals it’s known as the Portland Bridge as it connects Middletown to Portland CT. However, its official name is the Arrigoni Bridge. This image was taken in Cromwell on the river bank of the Connecticut River. In the background is Middletown. Only about 1/3 of the bridge was visible from my vantage point. There is another complete arch to the bridge on the Portland side as well as “non-arched” bridging. There are two eastbound and two westbound lanes. The bridge carries traffic from Rt. 66/Rt. 17 and see’s about 34,000 cars a day. Construction on the bridge was completed in 1938. It’s length is 3428 ft. and 44.9…
