Abandoned Silo in Woodbury CT
Cheryl and I were photographing barns in the Woodbury/Roxbury area when she spotted this old abandoned silo off in a field. I immediately turned the car around and drove down a very short dirt road to this beautiful relic of a silo. I always find beauty in abandoned buildings, barns, silo’s etc. not to mention the “story” I conjure up in my mind of what life was like back in the day. I found this silo particularly beautiful in its own right complete with graffiti. It was surrounded by woods as far as the eye could see, except on the south side where the main road cut through not far…

It’s a one horse show…………..
Another day of barn hunting with my beautiful wife Cheryl. This barn was on a fairly well traveled route through Harwinton CT. However, having said that bear in mind Harwinton only has population of about 5000 people so it’s still a nice country road. I only had this one angle on the barn and I couldn’t wait for the horse to be in a better position because I was being eyeballed by an individual who I don’t think wanted me there. So it was one and done and out in a minute for this photographer. Fortunately I was able to walk away with an acceptable image. Photographed with a Sony…

Grazing bull in Litchfield CT ………
Cheryl looked on as I photographed this beautiful farm scene in Litchfield CT. Framed by two trees these cows, or bulls, grazed on this sloping field speckled with yellow wild flowers. This is actually the backside of the farm I posted on the same date. Photograhed with a Sony A7RII 42.4 MP full frame mirrorless camera with a Sony 24-105 F4 lens @ 44mm. 1/200tg f16, ISO 400, Aperture Priority

Litchfield farm scene………
Cheryl kept the seat warm in the car while I photographed this farm in Litchfield CT. I believe, these days, it is primarily a horse farm. If you look at coral at the far right there are some horses present. Only modification in photoshop was the foreground by the roadway. Photographed with Sony A7RII and a Sony 24-105 F4 lens @ 38 mm. 1/160th, f11, ISO 160, Aperture Priority

Old Cow Farm in Litchfield CT
Another barn on the list for Cheryl and I in Litchfield CT this bright sunny day. This property covered many acres and was a beautiful site to see. I’m sure at one time this was a bustling farm replete with farm house as seen in the right distant side of the image. However, with it’s boarded windows I believe the farm house is no longer occupied. I didn’t see a lot of activity or any livestock during my visit so I’m not sure to what extent the farm is utilized today. With it’s towering silo’s and acres of fields I’m sure there was a lot of cows to feed back…

Old grey barn in Roxbury CT
Cheryl and I loved the town of Roxbury so much that we decided to come back this weekend. Once again it was a beautiful day for being out. This barn has a rather unique look with a silo that is capped differently than most and a basement entrance. It is located on Apple Lane. Photographed with a Sony A7RII, 42.4 MP full frame, mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-105 F4 lens @ 39mm. 1/250th, f11, ISO 320, Aperture Priority
