• Barns,  Journey's

A barn sits at the end of this long and winding road.

This was really the only vantage point I had on this barn.  The road you see appeared to be private so I didn’t dare travel too far down it.  There was some type of farm at the end but due to all the tree’s I couldn’t tell what kind of a farm it was.  I had to use a long lens to even get this image. Sony Nex 7 mirrorless camera with Sony 55-210 @ 82mm (35mm equiv. = 123mm) 1/320th, f11, ISO 100, shutter priority TIP: when photographing with a long lens and you are hand holding set your shutter speed at least the same as the longest end…

    Pristine barn in Preston CT

Looks like a cow barn that has been fully restored or perhaps it still functions as a cow barn but it’s the cleanest, neatest cow barn I’ve ever photographed. Location: Mattern Rd., Preston CT Sony Nex 7, Sony 18-55 @ 39mm (35mm equiv. = 58) 1/50th, f8, ISO 100, aperture priority.

    Beauty comes from within…………

Beauty comes from within….within the barn that has two trees growing inside, that is.  Yup, this old weathered, half falling down barn has been in a dilapidated state for so long that two tree’s growing from within it have gotten to be over 20′ tall.  Here the lies the true beauty of why this barn stands out amongst the Deep River CT countryside.  You won’t see that every day, even among abandoned barns. Sony Nex 7 with a Sony E 55-210, 4.5 – 6.3 zoom lens @ 110 mm (35 mm equiv. = 165) 1/200th, f8 ,ISO 100, aperture priority

    Snow capped Southington CT barn

I vaguely remember that this beautiful old barn was somewhere in “central” Southington CT. By that I mean it was not on the outskirts of town in the wooded area but rather in a more downtown residential area.  The barn itself was only about 15′ from the road. Photographed with a Nikon D7100, Nikon 18-55 @ 34 mm (35 mm equiv. = 51 mm)   1/100th, f11, ISO 100, Aperture priority
