    Old Barn, Avon CT

While photographing a one room schoolhouse with Cheryl we were fortunate enough to find this old barn across the street in Avon CT. Both still image and video photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61mp mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-70 f2.8 GMII lens. IMAGE: 1/160th, f11, ISO 100, 70mm, MANUAL MODE

Picture perfect barn in Woodbury CT

On the way back from a photoshoot in Roxbury Cheryl and I, by chance, happened upon this beautiful old barn in Woodbury. It’s been in the family for many years and belonged to the current owners Grandfather. This is not its original site as the entire barn and foundation were moved here at one time. There had been an addition in the rear which had suffered a collapse. This is one of the most beautiful barns I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing with its unique styling and weathered barn board. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61mp mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-70 F2.8 GMII lens @ 52mm. 1/4 second,…

    A perfect barn in Southbury.

I’ve been after this barn for months but there were always cars parked in front of it and people working in or around it which precluded me from taking the shot. Although, this day, there was one person working in the barn I knew it wouldn’t get much better than this so I took my shots. With no real place to park my car I just idled across the street for a brief second to take the wide angle shot. I left, changed lenses, then returned idling once again for another second or two and took my closer shots. I must say this is one of the most pristine nicely…

White Oak Schoolhouse, Southbury CT (c.1840)

The White Oak Schoolhouse (built in 1840) 886 Main St., Southbury CT  06488 I don’t know how many years this served as a schoolhouse in this community now of 20,000 people. At the time of it’s use I’m sure the local population was quite small. It’s…

    Old barn in Avon.

Cheryl and I were driving through Avon just enjoying the fall day.  Virtually every barn we passed I had photographed before years ago, including this one.  However, we liked this particular camera angle and the fall weather so I decided to photograph it once again. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61mp mirrorless camera in APS-C crop mode. I used a Sony 24-70 F2.8 GMII lens @ 94mm. 1/50th, f16, ISO 100, Aperture Priority

More beautiful as time goes by.

Cheryl and I were working the Southbury CT area looking for barns and came across this one out in the country. I didn’t tag it well so it was either in Southbury or one of the surrounding towns.  I’m sure it’s owned by someone but from the standpoint of upkeep and usage it’s abandoned in my opinion. These are the types of barns I relish.  Time just ages them so beautifully.  The paint is gone, the boards are peeling and there is probably more wildlife that calls this home than you can imagine. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61mp mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-70 F2.8 GMII lens @ 38…

Beautiful old aging barn in Southbury

To me this barn is very striking.  It appears to sit abandoned in the middle of the woods with no lead in road or path.  Father time is having it’s way as the foliage creeps in around it and the paint fades.  Two things I found unique.  There is about 6′ overhang on the side nearest the viewer.  You don’t see that on barns.  The silo is also unique as well as the silos roof.  The silo almost has a “home made” look to it but I’m sure was functional and I think gives this barn a lot of character. It’s a true relic. Photographed in the winter with a…
