Abandoned Silo in Woodbury CT
Cheryl and I were photographing barns in the Woodbury/Roxbury area when she spotted this old abandoned silo off in a field. I immediately turned the car around and drove down a very short dirt road to this beautiful relic of a silo. I always find beauty in abandoned buildings, barns, silo’s etc. not to mention the “story” I conjure up in my mind of what life was like back in the day. I found this silo particularly beautiful in its own right complete with graffiti. It was surrounded by woods as far as the eye could see, except on the south side where the main road cut through not far…

Pristine horse barn – Oxford CT
Cheryl and I were taking back roads in the Oxford/Southbury area and stumbled upon this beautiful barn. It appears to be fairly new construction. A peek in the front door reveals a couple of horse stalls. There were also some horses in the pasture which is not seen in the image. Photographed with a Sony 61mp mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-70 F2.8 GMII lens at 37mm. 1/60th, F11, ISO 64 Aperture Priority, Focus Stacked.

Peace and quiet in Morris CT
Morris CT is a town in Litchfield county with a population of around 2500 residents. Having spent the better part of an afternoon chasing barns here with Cheryl I can tell you that Morris is very rural and wooded. There was very little in the way of commercial business. We came upon this very nice wood clad home nestled at the base of a mountain surrounded by nothing but country side. If you’re looking for peace and quiet then these folks found it. There seems to be some type of corral out front perhaps where they ride or did ride horses at one time?? Photographed with a Sony A7RV 61mp…

Old cow barn(?) – Morris CT
This is a beautifully built and appears still nicely maintained barn in Morris CT. As this image was taken from the road I could not see if this was an active farm or not. The writing over the end door says “Every Farm Needs a Team”. I think this was possibly a horse barn as there were images of horses on the sign over the end door. It looks like a cow barn to me but the sign made me think otherwise. Photographed with a Sony A7RV 61mp mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-70 F2.8 GMII lens at 51mm. 1/160th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture Priority

Barn – Morris CT
This barn appears to be the remnants of what was once a dairy farm in Morris CT. The reason I say that is because the rusted sign on the barn say’s “We Use DeLaval Milkers”. This is an IL company who manufacturers diary and farming equipment such as milking machines. This barn, being as small as it is, makes me believe that the main cow barn has been torn down over the years. This was a beautiful location for a farm and there is a beautiful mountain to the rear. I also love any barn that proudly displays “Old Glory” on the side such as this one. Photographed with a…
