Resting barn under the summers shade in Berlin CT
This well built old barn sits snuggled between two trees enjoying the shade on a hot summers day. Located on Chamberlain Hwy. in Berlin CT. You don’t see a lot of brick foundations for these old barns like this one has. Even more unusual is the custom window at the peak of the side wall. Unfortunately when I zoomed in I could see that the window was missing the bottom center and left window panel. The ground level window was also missing some panels. When I see this it makes me question how well the interior is holding up because it always becomes a haven for birds.Nevertheless it certainly looks…

Drowning in ivy…………Berlin CT
This beautiful old barn is slowly becoming one with nature as foliage overcomes it. I would think it’s a pretty fair assumption that this barn has been put out to pasture. I’m glad that it, at least, has not been torn down (yet?). There is still a story her to be told and, as far as I’m concerned, these old barns have charm until they can’t stand any longer. This barn was one of a handful on Orchard Rd. in Berlin CT. Photographed with Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55 lens at 40mm / 60mm equiv in 35. 1/160th, F11, ISO 100 A Two shots were taken: One of the…

Huge old barn proudly flies the colors……………….Berlin CT
This “L” shaped barn packs some serious square footage. If you look to the left bottom corner of the barn you’ll see that there is a walk-in to the basement. It looks as if the roof was replaced at one time. Overall the barn is in pretty decent shape and certainly has a fair amount of curb appeal. Located very close to the adjoining homes I was not able to offer a wider view of the grounds it sits on. This barn is on Chamberlain Hwy, Berlin CT. Photographed with a Nikon D7100, Nikon 18-55 lens @ 35mm, (52=35mm equiv.) 1/250th, f11, ISO 100 APERTURE PRIORITY.

Snow capped Southington CT barn
I vaguely remember that this beautiful old barn was somewhere in “central” Southington CT. By that I mean it was not on the outskirts of town in the wooded area but rather in a more downtown residential area. The barn itself was only about 15′ from the road. Photographed with a Nikon D7100, Nikon 18-55 @ 34 mm (35 mm equiv. = 51 mm) 1/100th, f11, ISO 100, Aperture priority

Soutghington Farm blanketed with snowfall
This large red barn fades into the evening as the beautiful lights from a New England sunset bring the day to a close on the outskirts of Southington CT. The farm owners home is seen peeking behind the left side of the barn. Photographed with a Nikon D7100, 18-55 @ 40 mm. 1/250th, f16, ISO 100, Aperture priority.

Barn between the Elms
Cheryl and I were chasing down a list of barns we wanted to shoot in Avon CT this chilly December day in 2018. Down the street from one of the ones on our list, low and behold, was this beauty. It was situated in an open field a considerable distance off. When photographed that way it lacked any interest. I then switched to a medium telephoto lens and stepped back into the roadway so I could frame the barn with the two elm trees. The telephoto helped “compress” the image bringing the barn closer to the trees. There was horribly harsh sunlight that day but fortunately the bulk of the…

Barn in Rocky Hill CT
This barn was on a residential property off a main road in Rocky Hill CT. The only view was from the back side. Photographed with Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55 mm shot at 32 mm (35mm equiv. – 48 mm) 1/320th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture priority.

Beautiful old barn in the fall
This beautiful old barn proudly sits in a grassy field on the east side of North Haven Ct as the fall foliage blooms around it. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 24.3MP DSLR and a Nikon 18-55 f3.5-5.6 lens at 75mm (35MM equiv.) 1/400, 5.6, ISO 200, Aperture priority
