Richs Farm, Oxford CT
Rich Farm Ice Cream 691 Oxford Road (Rt 67) Oxford, Connecticut 06478 When Cheryl and I pulled the car along the side of Rt 67 to photograph this absolutely gorgeous barn it started raining. I rolled down the drivers side window and was able to squeeze off two shots but it was raining to hard that I had to close the window and call it a day. Fortunately when I got home I was glad to see that I got a decent shot. Nature has aged this barn beautifully in Middletown CT
Nature has taken it’s toll on this wonderful old small barn on or in the area of Bell St. in Middletown CT. New England’s tough winters have nearly collapsed the roof but, like us New Englanders, it will stand proud until it can’t stand any more. Once, most likely, the home for farm tools, it stands as a reminder of what once was. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55 @ 22mm 1/500th, f10, ISO 200, Aperture Priority

Sunshine Dairy Barn, Middletown CT
Absolutely beautiful farm belonging to the Sunshine Dairy Farm in Middletown CT. I’m not sure if this farm is currently in use but, to the best of my knowledge, they had a rich history providing diary products to the Middletown area for many, many years. Photographed with Nikon D7100, Nikon 18-55, 3.5 – 5.6 @ 24mm 1/200th, f10, ISO 200, Aperture priority

Nicely maintained barn in Middleton CT
Looks like the owner of this attractive barn on the corner of Country Club Rd. and Bell St. in Middletown CT has kept up with the wood exterior nicely. It seems to have a nice even coat of stain and is aging nicely. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55, 3.5 – 5.6 @ 26 mm. 1/320th, f8, ISO 200, Aperture Priority

Horse farm barn in Middletown CT
I don’t typically see this large gambrel style barn on horse farms so it was nice to come upon it. This style is more typical of cow farms. I think it is a beautifully built barn and I particularly like it’s grand front entrance. The sign on the front wall says “Old Farms Riding Club Middletown CT”. There wasn’t much activity the day I was there but this horse riding club appears to be active. A residential neighborhood has cropped up around it but, I’m sure, at one time this was all rural land. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55, 3.5 – 5.6 @ 26mm. 1/600th, f8, ISO…

A deer passes through in Madison
The only other time I photographed this barn was in the winter where the tree next to it was barren. I was rushed and shot it out of the window of my car and I momentarily pulled off to the side of the road. I was not pleased with the results and have been wanting to come back ever since. This was taken on Rt. 79. Folks that travel from Durham or Wallingford down to Madison pass this gorgeous barn all the time. They also know that this is a very busy, hi speed road, and the barn is situated on a curve in the road. This time I decided…

Sun setting on barn in an East Hampton CT field
Cheryl and I were chasing down a list of old barns we were going after. We were happy to see the sunshine settingt on this old barn in a grassy East Hampton CT field. Technology comes to an old barn
Cheryl and I were barn chasing in East Hampton CT and photographed this barn which was topped with a solar panel on Hurd Park Rd. I’ve photographed a lot of barns and this is the first one I’ve seen with a solar panel. I like the old tractor they had situated on the property. Photographed with a Sony Nex 7, 24 MP, mirrorless camera and a Sony 55-210 @ 100 mm. 1/250th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture priority
