Elm Spring Farm, Rimmon Rd., Beacon Falls CT
This is my idea of a cow barn! Long enough to hold a fair amount of milkers and tall enough to load up mountains of hay and alphafa to keep them fed all under a beautiful gambrel roof. As you leave Seymour, travelling north, you’ll cross the town line into Beacon Falls and immediately come upon this awesome looking old time farm on Rimmon Hill Rd. I don’t usually like white barns but this one is an exception. I think the color befits it beautifully and it’s bold lettering accross the front just rings out with the pride these farmers felt as they served day in and day out providing…

A old beauty on Tranquilty Rd., Middlebury CT
This combination farm house/barn/garage is absolutely a work of art. If I had to guess it was probably built in the late 1800’s with post and beam construction. Although it’s very beautiful from the road it’s true beauty is in the detail. If I was able to go into these structures it would take me back in time. Built with such fine craftsmanship that they stand solid today after all these years. These grounds have an absolutely breathtaking view of Middlbebury’s valley. You can literally see for miles on end. Situated on Tranquility Rd., in this neighborhood, you’ll find some of the most beautiful homes you could ever imagine. Some,…

Barn – Middlefield CT
[wzslider height=”800″ lightbox=”true”] While traveling through Middlefield CT as a field sales rep. I happened by this working farm on my way to an account. I fortunately had my equipment with me and quickly pulled over to take this photograph. The family dog ensured that I did not set foot on the property as he delivered a rather convincing growl. I simply framed the shot, while momentarily parked on the side of the road, while in the drivers seat of my car. Photographed with Nikon D7100, 18-55mm lens, 1/100 sec; f/16; ISO 100.

Partially Abandoned Barn, Coventry CT
[wzslider height=”525″ lightbox=”true”]The sun is setting on this somewhat abandoned barn at an old dairy farm in rural Coventry CT. The farm itself was not actually abandoned but I believe the barn they currently use to house their livestock was across the street. If I had to guess the farmer probably just uses stores hay in the loft. While photographing I was approached by a middle aged man in overhauls with a thick build that years of farming had obviously developed. I was concerned that he would object to my photo’s but, to the contrary, he just wanted to know what I was up to and was a very cordial…

Isolated in the woods of Cornwall
My sales work took me into the hills of Litchfield County, CT this day. As I was travelling through the rural Town of Cornwall, (pop. 1,450), I couldn’t help but notice this beautiful sweeping cornfield. As I looked closer I saw a home situated in the hills on the far side of the field. It was completely isolated with nothing around it as far as the eye could see. I’m more of a city guy but I’m sure this is a dream location for many folks. Double click on the photo for a larger view of what I saw.
