    Barn – Morris CT

This barn appears to be the remnants of what was once a dairy farm in Morris CT. The reason I say that is because the rusted sign on the barn say’s “We Use DeLaval Milkers”. This is an IL company who manufacturers diary and farming equipment such as milking machines. This barn, being as small as it is, makes me believe that the main cow barn has been torn down over the years. This was a beautiful location for a farm and there is a beautiful mountain to the rear. I also love any barn that proudly displays “Old Glory” on the side such as this one. Photographed with a…

Barn and Silo in Woodbury CT

Per usual, Cheryl mapped out our next barn stop in the car while I photographed this one. It’s double silo tells me it was most likely a cow barn back in the day for a small farm. I don’t know what’s its purpose is today. Is it used for storage, is someone living in there or are they trying to maintain the history? The fairly new roof tells me that they owners are taking care of it. Photographed with Sony A7RII, 42.3MP full framed mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-105 F4 lens @ 41mm. 1/200th, f11, ISO 640, Aperture Priority.

Goats in front of the barn in Harwinton CT

There was a small group of goats just off camera to the right but these three were nice enough to head over my way and pay me a visit. This scene was shot in the countryside of Harwinton CT. Photographed with a Sony A7RII, 42 MP, full framed, mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-105mm F4 lengs at 43mm. ISO 100, 1/200th, F11, Aperture Priority

    Cow Farm in Harwinton CT

Just an old dairy farm in Harwinton CT. If you look closely at the center of the image you can see a farmer walking through. Dairy farms are pretty much a thing of the past in this state these days. Photographed with a Sony A7RII 42MP, full framed, mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-105 F4 lens at 82mm. ISO 800, 1/125th, f13, Aperture priority

The barn on the hill – Woodbury CT

Cheryl and I were fortunate enough to find this beautiful barn. We’ll be back a couple of more times to chase down more barns in this rural old town. We were quite pleased with the way it sat atop the hill with a field of wild flowers or possibly just ragweed. Either way they offered up some nice bright yellow for the foreground. Photographed with a Sony A7RII, 42 MP, mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-105 mm F4 lens at 105mm. ISO 1250, 1/200th, F16, Aperture Priority

Beautiful Kent CT Barn in the Fall

Cheryl and I went to scenic Kent CT this fall for the purposes of capturing some beautiful barn images. You’d never guess it but this was photographed on the edge of a downtown parking lot.  Just behind me about 50 – 100 yards were hundreds of people taking advantage of the fall weather going in and out of small quaint shops and restaurants. However, everything pointing west, in the direction of my camera, was just scenic countryside. Kent is situated in the northwest region of CT bordering New York State about a 45 minute drive north from the City of Danbury. There is a special charm to Kent and worth…
