Abandoned Building, 300 Eddy St., Providence RI

[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”7000″ height=”800″ lightbox=”true”]This abandoned building certainly has real potential after a rehab.  I don’t know what used to be here, nor what will be here.  It’s a great location by the river and I’m sure even in it’s current state is worth big bucks.  The photographs depict the front and back of the building. Photographed by Sony Nex-7, 24MP, mirrorless camera with Carl Zeiz 24mm, F1.8 lens.

    Point St. Bridge, Providence, RI

[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]Built in 1927 the Point Street Bridge spans the Providence River. Although originally a swing bridge it is now fixed in place. This is because the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier, built downstream to the south, prevents larger vessels from gaining entrance to the Providence River. The Point St. park is located on the north/west side of the bridge. It’s a small, quiet park which one might think barely qualifies to be called a “park”. However, it is which means it’s available to the general public. If you’re a local you may find this to be hidden gem if you want to curl up on the park bench,…

    Providence, RI skyline

[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”] Founded in 1636 by Roger Williams the City of Providence, RI once known as “the beehive of industry” has shifted gears to become “the creative capitol”. This is due to the decline of manufacturing and the growth of education and arts. Providence is also home to (8) hospitals and (7) institutions of higher learning which includes Brown University. With a population of 178,000 it ranks as the 37th largest city in the nation. On a personal note I’ve always enjoyed working and visiting Providence. The City has a comfortable feeling. Although, on the one hand large, it still retains that “town” feel much in the way…

    Providence River Bridge

[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”] The Providence River Bridge spans the 8 mile long Providence River. Although the river has no dams there is a barrier south of this bridge to ward against a tidal wave from a hurricane.

    Tugboats of Providence, RI

[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]Who doesn’t enjoy the site of well kept tugboat? I’ve always thought they were just, plain old, cool. So when I was photographing along the Providence River Park I spotted these two boats docked adjacent to their facility. If you need a tow or perhaps a little help bring your ship into harbor then McAllister towing would be the folks to call.  They are a big time operation with facilities and tugs up and down the east coast. If you go to their website take a gander at their company newsletters.  Fascinating stuff.  It will give you a real insight into the depth of their duties. In addition there…
