    Point St. Bridge, Providence, RI

    [wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]Built in 1927 the Point Street Bridge spans the Providence River. Although originally a swing bridge it is now fixed in place. This is because the Fox Point Hurricane Barrier, built downstream to the south, prevents larger vessels from gaining entrance to the Providence River. The Point St. park is located on the north/west side of the bridge. It’s a small, quiet park which one might think barely qualifies to be called a “park”.     [wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”] Founded in 1636 by Roger Williams the City of Providence, RI once known as “the beehive of industry” has shifted gears to become “the creative capitol”. This is due to the decline of manufacturing and the growth of education and arts. Providence is also home to (8) hospitals and (7) institutions of higher learning which includes Brown University. With a population of 178,000 it ranks as the 37th largest city in the nation. On a personal note I’ve always enjoyed working and visiting Providence. The City has a comfortable feeling. Although, on the one hand large, it still retains that “town” feel much in the way…
