Nicely postured barn.
This barn is only about 20′ or so from Maple Ave. which is a fairly busy street. I think whoever built it had a wonderful design. It looks large and grand, with it’s tall walls, while at the same time is not overpowering for being a “neighborhood” barn. This is now the 2nd time I’ve seen a flat stone foundation like this in Shelton and that isn’t typical in general. I have to tell you I’m a big fan. The adjoining stone wall ties everything in so beautifully. I think the foliage also helps downplay it’s size. The cupola is gorgeous and different from what I’m used to seeing in…

Grazing the field in Bethany CT
This is the largest horse barn I’ve come upon. Located on a side street off the main road in Bethany CT it probably offers a lot more than just boarding. I was able to catch this horse grazing near the fence and I was able to get him in the shot up close with his barn off in the sunset. Photographed with Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55 @ 24mm (35mm equiv.= 36mm) 1/125th, f16, ISO 400, MANUAL MODE

Barn in the sticks of Winchester CT
I was hunting barns in the northwest corner of Torrington CT when I had just crossed over the town line into Winchester. I stumbled upon this barn on what appeared to be a very narrow, poorly maintained country road. You had a sense that you were really in the country with little around. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55 lens at 20 mm. 1/250th, f11, ISO 100 Aperture Priority

Rooster Rise Farm, Berlin CT
Looks like this beautiful large aging red barn, situated on the Rooster Rise Farm, has weathered many a storm and is still proudly standing. It has a very grand design and a thing of beauty in the countryside of Berlin, CT. I’m not from Berlin so I don’t know exactly what they farm at the Rooster Rise Farm. I didn’t see any cattle so I’m presuming its vegetables these days. That’s just a guess however. The roof looked to be in good condition, not counting the deteriorating roof of the one level structure in front of it that you can barely see through the tall grass. I hope the owners…

Unusual but beautiful barn in Plymouth CT
This rustic looking barn had some unusual touches like the boxed in “X” patterns. It sat nicely balanced between two tall tree’s with the sun coming in from behind lighting up the tree’s and parts of the lawn. The sign on the front reads “The Leach-Stanton” barn. It’s located on North St. in Plymouth CT. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55, 3.5-5.6 @ 32mm (in 35mm: 48) 1/125th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture Priority

Barn on North Harwinton Rd., Plymouth CT
Old red barn and silo makes for a beautiful scene as the sun sets behind it on North Harwinton Rd. in Plymouth CT. Just to the right of the barn, under the tree, you can see the white of the farm house peeking through. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55 @ 18 (in 35mm: 27). 1/125th, fll, ISO 100, Aperture priority
