“Peace on Earth” – North Haven Barn

This charming old barn is situated on the east side of North Haven adjacent to a residence. It looks like it’s still in use and in nice shape. I chose this for the December image of my 2017 wall calendar not only because it’s beautiful and unique but because of the signage. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 24.3 MP DSLR and a Nikon 18-55 3.5-5.6 lens at 36mm (35mm equiv.) 1/250th, f5.6, iso 200, Aperture priority

Beautiful barn setting in Bethlehem CT

Cheryl and I caught an absolutely beautiful and warm October day while we set out to track down our list of barns in Bethlehem CT. Knowing that winter was right around the corner we wanted to capture as many barns as we could before the snow flew and the cold weather set in. The barn is untouched but honestly the land it sat on didn’t make for the best image. So I took artistic license and photoshpped the barn/silo into another scene. Photographed with a Nikon D7100, 24 MP camera and a Nikon 18-55 lens at 38 mm. (35mm equiv.=57mm) 1/250th, f13, ISO 100 Aperture Priority

    Barn in Bethlehem CT

Cheryl and I set out to photograph barns in Bethlehem CT and this is one of the beauties we found.  Still a working barn and is nicely maintained as it’s banked into a slight hill with an attractive hand laid stone retaining wall. NOTE: The original image shows a roadway right next to the barn and it overpowered the image.  For artistic purposes I removed the road in photoshop and created a “dirt” road. If you’re a barn hunter like me then Bethlehem is a great old country town to visit. Nikon D7100, Nikon 18-55 mm @ 24 mm 1/160th, f11, ISO 100

    Barn in North Branford CT

Let me start off by saying that I changed this image considerably in photoshop by adding many details that weren’t originally there for artistic effect. The main barn is the same but that’s about it. Photographed in North Branford CT. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55 @ 18mm (35mm equiv.= 27 mm) 1/250th, f11, ISO 800, Aperture Priority
