Beautiful Monroe Congregational Church
Monroe Congregational Church (Founded 1762) 34 Church St. Monroe CT After I had just photographed the one room schoolhouse just down the street Cheryl and I headed over to what was the original green of Monroe. Once there we noticed, what is almost always the case in every town, a beautiful Congregational Church. I took my gear and headed over to the green, accross the street, to see if I could frame up the shot with some of the surrounding environment. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61MP mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-70 F2.8 GMII lens @ 24mm in late fall. 1/125th, f8, ISO 100, MANUAL MODE

If you’re interested in the history of one room schoolhouses in CT I suggest you purchase CONNECTICUT SCHOOLHOUSES THROUGH TIME by Melinda K. Elliott. A Monroe CT barn……..
The second of only two barns that we were able to capture on our journey to Monroe CT this bright sunny June afternoon. It looks like we’re in the middle of the country but in actuality this was the only angle on the barn I had due to the proximity of the buildings on each side. This was a small, winding, but well travelled road in the midst of this residential neighborhood. I had to make it quick because with all the vehicluar traffic going by my car presented a bit of a hazard. Having said all that this is certainly a nice old barn with some character. The property…

Ivy crawling up the sides of this barn…………..
Cheryl kept the car running while I took a quick shot of this old red barn in the Monroe CT area. The ivy crawling up the side of the barn gives it a nice look as it sits in the middle of the field. After this we headed out to view the other barns on our list but didn’t have a lot of luck today. We were able to photograph one other barn in Monroe but that’s a pretty small catch for us. Photographed with a Sony A7RII 42.4 MP full frame mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-105 F4 lens @ 53 mm. 1/200th, f16, ISO 800, Aperture Priority

Circle Dot Drive In, Monroe CT
UPDATE as of June 06, 2020 Cheryl and I drove by the site of the once Circle Dot Drive In to find that it had been torn down. The abandoned CIRCLE DOT DRIVE IN, 687 Main St., (Rt. 25), Monroe CT. Best I can determine it was built in 1954 and closed in 2001. It was operated by George and Teresa Mich from 1974 – 1999 and was built by George’s father. I’m sure this was a regular hot spot for coffee and hot dogs. Their menu also included breakfast items such as eggs and luncheon items such as hamburgers and fish fillet. You hate to see places like this…

Victorinox Factory Store, Monroe, CT
[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”6000″ height=”800″ lightbox=”true”] Victorinox Factory Store Address: 7 Victoria Dr., Monroe, CT 06468 Phone:(203) 929-6391 Hours: Hours are limited – please call first Cheryl and I dropped by the Victorinox factory store in Monroe CT recently. This location serves as their North American headquarters and also offers a store that’s open to the public. They had a tremendous assortment of Swiss Army knives, cutlery, precision watches (male and female), perfume, as well as luggage. All branded with their name. I’m told Swiss Army also has a line of clothing (I did not see that at this location). I also must say these watches are absolutely gorgeous. I was…
