Rooster Rise Farm, Berlin CT
Looks like this beautiful large aging red barn, situated on the Rooster Rise Farm, has weathered many a storm and is still proudly standing. It has a very grand design and a thing of beauty in the countryside of Berlin, CT. I’m not from Berlin so I don’t know exactly what they farm at the Rooster Rise Farm. I didn’t see any cattle so I’m presuming its vegetables these days. That’s just a guess however. The roof looked to be in good condition, not counting the deteriorating roof of the one level structure in front of it that you can barely see through the tall grass. I hope the owners…

Unusual but beautiful barn in Plymouth CT
This rustic looking barn had some unusual touches like the boxed in “X” patterns. It sat nicely balanced between two tall tree’s with the sun coming in from behind lighting up the tree’s and parts of the lawn. The sign on the front reads “The Leach-Stanton” barn. It’s located on North St. in Plymouth CT. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55, 3.5-5.6 @ 32mm (in 35mm: 48) 1/125th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture Priority

Barn on North Harwinton Rd., Plymouth CT
Old red barn and silo makes for a beautiful scene as the sun sets behind it on North Harwinton Rd. in Plymouth CT. Just to the right of the barn, under the tree, you can see the white of the farm house peeking through. A old beauty on Tranquilty Rd., Middlebury CT
This combination farm house/barn/garage is absolutely a work of art. If I had to guess it was probably built in the late 1800’s with post and beam construction. Although it’s very beautiful from the road it’s true beauty is in the detail. If I was able to go into these structures it would take me back in time. Built with such fine craftsmanship that they stand solid today after all these years. These grounds have an absolutely breathtaking view of Middlbebury’s valley. You can literally see for miles on end. Situated on Tranquility Rd., in this neighborhood, you’ll find some of the most beautiful homes you could ever imagine. Some,…

Richs Farm, Oxford CT
Rich Farm Ice Cream 691 Oxford Road (Rt 67) Oxford, Connecticut 06478 When Cheryl and I pulled the car along the side of Rt 67 to photograph this absolutely gorgeous barn it started raining. I rolled down the drivers side window and was able to squeeze off two shots but it was raining to hard that I had to close the window and call it a day. Fortunately when I got home I was glad to see that I got a decent shot. (The following excerpt is copied verbatim from the Rich Farm Ice Cream website): The Story of Rich Farm Ice Cream Rich Farm Ice Cream opened for business…

Barn on Whitmore Rd., Middlebury CT
This was another barn on our list for Cheryl and I today in the town of Middlebury CT. It’s situated on Whitmore Rd. with it’s “modern” looking garage door entrance. I suspect that the owners park their cars in there and needed a working automated garage door. However, it’s the garage door that gives this barn an unusual look. All in all it has a nice appearance tucked away amongst the surrounding foliage. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55 lens @ 42mm (63mm = 33mm equiv.) 1/320th, f16, ISO 500, Aperture Priority

Nature has aged this barn beautifully in Middletown CT
Nature has taken it’s toll on this wonderful old small barn on or in the area of Bell St. in Middletown CT. New England’s tough winters have nearly collapsed the roof but, like us New Englanders, it will stand proud until it can’t stand any more. Once, most likely, the home for farm tools, it stands as a reminder of what once was. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55 @ 22mm 1/500th, f10, ISO 200, Aperture Priority
