The Windmill at Aqua Turf, Southington CT
The Aqua Turf Club 556 Mulberry St. Plantsville, CT 06479 (860) 621-9335 Cheryl and I made a stop at the Aqua Turf on a day when they weren’t holding any weddings or events so the grounds were empty. We were in and out in 15 minutes. My main purpose in stopping by was to photograph their beautiful windmill. Back in the 90’s I had a professional photography business and photographed a lot of weddings throughout CT. Although there are some very beautiful options out there, no doubt, I always felt that the Aqua Turf reigned high on the list, and for good reason. Go to their website and take a…

Lavender Pond Farm, Killingworth CT
318 Roast Meat Hill Rd, Killingworth, CT 06419 Cheryl and I stopped at this beautiful Lavender Farm recently in the countryside of Killingworth CT. They grow lavender to infuse in many of their products that they sell in their country store which is on the property. The serenity of the farm made it all worth while. It was so peaceful, and the staff was polite and accommodating. The kids and family can even go aboard the “Lavender Express” and have a nice slow train ride around the property. If you plan on having picnic on the property bring your own food as they don’t sell food there. The pond is…

Bumble Bee Closeup
This bumble bee was very busy today making his way from flower to flower. I felt he created a striking image as he contrasted with the purples and greens. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 APS-C, 24.1 MP camera and a Nikon 105 mm, f/2.8 MACRO lens. 1/1000th, f9, ISO 1600

Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge, Simsbury CT
Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge 1 Old Bridge Rd. Simsbury, CT 06070 Cheryl and I were driving all over Simsbury CT one beautiful Saturday afternoon checking off our list of “must have” shots. We were focusing on old barns and didn’t have this shot on our list. It was by shear luck that we happened by it and were taken by it’s serenity and beauty. It was built in 1892. All of us in CT have been blessed with a very warm start to winter during December but come January I’m sure temperatures will return to normal. This photo is of a local horse farm in Hamden, CT. Photo taken with Nikon D7100 and 15-88 zoom lens.
