It’s a one horse show…………..
Another day of barn hunting with my beautiful wife Cheryl. This barn was on a fairly well traveled route through Harwinton CT. However, having said that bear in mind Harwinton only has population of about 5000 people so it’s still a nice country road. I only had this one angle on the barn and I couldn’t wait for the horse to be in a better position because I was being eyeballed by an individual who I don’t think wanted me there. Ivy crawling up the sides of this barn…………..
Cheryl kept the car running while I took a quick shot of this old red barn in the Monroe CT area. The ivy crawling up the side of the barn gives it a nice look as it sits in the middle of the field. After this we headed out to view the other barns on our list but didn’t have a lot of luck today. We were able to photograph one other barn in Monroe but that’s a pretty small catch for us. Barn & horse in Bethany/Woodbridge CT area………
My apologies but I’m not sure if this was taken in Bethany or Woodbridge CT. I remember not being able to locate the town line sign but it was certainly close to the town line. This was a beautiful corner lot of multiple acres which situated upon it were a barn, house, coral and field located on a main route going through town. The image was shot as seen except for one slight modification to the grounds in photoshop. There’s beauty in this mess…………
At first glance it just looks like an overgrown mess. However, when you look closer you’ll see the beautiful roots spiraling up the tree to the right of the barn. The streaks of shadows, painting it’s west side, lend character to it’s already aging charm. With tears of rust and grime emanating from the window panes she perhaps longs for some attention. If you’ll look closely you’ll see the adjoining home, in much better condition, peeking through the V of the double tree. Yes, overgrown and unkempt but it’s nature intertwining with man’s creation and that can be beautiful. Live on old barn, live on! Photographed with a Sony A7RII…

Another beautiful barn in Roxbury CT
Another barn on our “to do” list of barns in gorgeous Roxbury CT for Cheryl and I. As you can see it’s a beautiful, tranquil setting that was most likely a bustling cow farm back in the day. The property owner came over to us and was very cordial welcoming us to photograph the barn as we liked. We shared our website address and hope he stops by to see the finished results. Barn – Mount Carmen Ave., Hamden CT
Looks like the barn to the right/rear was probably the original and the barn in the foreground was added at a later time. These barns are situated on a nice piece of property on Mount Carmel Ave. in Hamden. This road is probably best known for Sleeping Giant State Park and Quinnipiac University. Hopefully the owner is able to tend to the gaping hole in the roof before too much serious deterioration is done. Other than that the exterior has been preserved fairly well. Still standing strong in retirement……..
This barn may have been put out to pasture years ago but it is still holding its own as foliage tries to overtake it on every side. I think it’s a gem of a barn and I hope it stands for many years to come representing all the hard work of the farmers who passed through it’s doors. It can be seen at the corner of South Rd. and Sabolick Rd., in the countryside of New Hartford CT.
