Ludorf Barn, Southbury CT
Ludorf Barn 502 West Purchase Rd., Southbury CT In doing my research I came upon the Ludorf Barn/Museum in Southbury CT and headed out this beautiful winters day to photograph it. As I arrived the fist thing I noticed was that this rural fairly desolate setting was in a fairly elevated location allowing for beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The barn was donated in 2009 by Marie Ludorf to the Southbury Historical Society. Since that time the Society has restored various parts of the buildings and grounds, including inside items such as carriages etc. The grounds, consisted of 2 acres with a rather large barn, (shown in my image),…

Minor Farm, Bristol CT
The Minor Farm established 1888. I don’t believe there is much left of the Minor farm but perhaps this old barn and the building that once housed the farm store. The reason I say that is if you look to the right of one of the images you’ll see the farmland, where cows once roamed, is now replaced by solar panels. Wow, if that’s not a sign of the times huh? From what I could gather Minors Farm was well known to locals where they would enjoy fall activities such as hayrides and the like. They ran a farm store, which was just north of this barn, for years and…

Old cow barn(?) – Morris CT
This is a beautifully built and appears still nicely maintained barn in Morris CT. As this image was taken from the road I could not see if this was an active farm or not. The writing over the end door says “Every Farm Needs a Team”. I think this was possibly a horse barn as there were images of horses on the sign over the end door. It looks like a cow barn to me but the sign made me think otherwise. Photographed with a Sony A7RV 61mp mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-70 F2.8 GMII lens at 51mm. 1/160th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture Priority

Barn – Morris CT
This barn appears to be the remnants of what was once a dairy farm in Morris CT. The reason I say that is because the rusted sign on the barn say’s “We Use DeLaval Milkers”. This is an IL company who manufacturers diary and farming equipment such as milking machines. This barn, being as small as it is, makes me believe that the main cow barn has been torn down over the years. This was a beautiful location for a farm and there is a beautiful mountain to the rear. I also love any barn that proudly displays “Old Glory” on the side such as this one. Photographed with a…

South Farms – Morris CT
South Farms – The White Barn 211 Higbie Rd., Morris CT First let me start by saying is this not a beautiful barn and setting? Wow! The upkeep over the years has kept this barn in pristine condition. Sam and Ruth Paletsky owned a cattle farm her from the 40’s thru the 70’s. I’ve seen a lot of farms in my travels and I even worked on one in high school and I’ve got to tell you if I was going to start a family and work the farm this would be the place I’d want to do it. This piece of property is so serene and beautiful, not to…
