Sunrise Farm – Farmington/Avon CT area

I love signs painted on barns. In this area they are not easy to come by. I thought the cupola was particularly nice. Unfortunately due to heavy brush growth on both sides straight on was the only shot I had. I was unable to gather any info. off the internet as to the history of this barn. One person did write that it was built in 1876 but I don’t have any proof to support that. Photographed with a Nikon D7100, 24 mp camera and a Nikon 18-55 zoom lens at 45/67mm. 1/160th, f13, ISO 200 Aperture priority.

    Quintessential New England

I was doing my usual thing looking for old barns in the northeast country side of Connecticut when I saw this house situated on a main road. It was Early October and the leaves were just starting to turn. The style of the house, the flag on the front, the hand crafted stone wall, it all said New England to me. Quintessential New England! I can smell the apple pies baking in the kitchen. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55 @ 55mm (in 35mm-82). 1/200th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture Priority.

    Southbury CT Barn

This is a composite photograph of three images:  Barn and lawn were photographed in Southbury CT on 01/05/17 with a Nikon D7100 and Nikon 18-55.  1/200th, f11, ISO 200.  Pond, tree’s and surrounding foliage were photographed on the property of Lyman Orchards in Middlefield CT on 10/22/12 with a  Sony Nex 7 and Sony 18-55.  1/100th, f11, ISO100. Fence – info not recorded. I created the composite, for artistic reasons,  because the setting where the barn was photographed was a winters day in January and there were no leaves on the tree’s and all the foliage was dormant.

    Old man winter has arrived!

Winter is upon us.  The day’s are short and nights are cold.  All of us in CT have been blessed with a very warm start to winter during December but come January I’m sure temperatures will return to normal.  This photo is of a local horse farm in Hamden, CT. Photo taken with Nikon D7100 and 15-88 zoom lens.

    Reflections of fall

[wzslider height=”800″ lightbox=”true”] This is a shot of a fall leaf, (actually from a plant not a tree), on a black plexiglass base and background. The blue reflection you see is actually what the camera produced when the red/orange leaf reflected off the black. I did not use photoshop to change any colors
