Beautiful abandoned house in Harwinton CT
While barn hunting in Harwinton CT I came upon this gorgeous abandoned house. I’m sure it’s fairly old as it rests on a stone foundation. Back in the day I’m sure this was a beautiful home but, for whatever reason, the current owners have elected to let it slowly deteriorate. As tattered curtains hang from the windows this home awaits a better day. I’m sure it can be brought back if someone is willing to invest the money. It doesn’t seem that far gone to me but depends on the inside. It’s situated on a good sized lot in a nice neighborhood.

A pumpkin welcomes visitor to this rust Kent CT barn.
With fall in the air, and Halloween around the corner, Cheryl was excited not only to see Old Glory adorn the entrance of this rustic barn but a bright beautiful pumpkin sitting at the stoop as well. Golden leaves adorned the landscape, and a colorful sky shown through, this barn made quite an impact on us in the lovely town of Kent CT. The homeowners house, (out of sight to the right), had a sign that said 1835. I don’t know when the barn was actually constructed. Sunrise Farm – Farmington/Avon CT area
I love signs painted on barns. In this area they are not easy to come by. I thought the cupola was particularly nice. Unfortunately due to heavy brush growth on both sides straight on was the only shot I had. I was unable to gather any info. off the internet as to the history of this barn. One person did write that it was built in 1876 but I don’t have any proof to support that. Hidden behind the fall foliage a beauty still stands…….
Another gorgeous barn quietly hidden beyond the fall foliage of New England on Burnt Hill Rd. in Hebron CT. This barn actually sits behind a farm house (to the left out of view). However, it was completely blocked by the yard and trees. I was forced to drive down the street a bit and shoot accross a swampy wetlands area with a long lens to reach it. The long lens compresses the image and gives the appearance that it is closer to the road than it actually is Photographed with a Sony Nex 7, 24MP, mirrorless camera and a Sony 55-210 F4.5-6.3 OSS lens at 109mm (in 35mm = 163).…
