    Old Cow Farm, Bethlehem

I was on my way to photograph another barn in Bethlehem when I spotted this farm scene off in a distance. It doesn’t appear that the buildings are actively being used but the presence of a tractor implies to me that the grounds are still being upkept. Photographed with a Sony A7RV, l24-70 f2.8 GMII lens at 55mm 1/100th, f16, ISO 100, Manual Mode

    Cow Farm in Harwinton CT

Just an old dairy farm in Harwinton CT. If you look closely at the center of the image you can see a farmer walking through. Dairy farms are pretty much a thing of the past in this state these days. Photographed with a Sony A7RII 42MP, full framed, mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-105 F4 lens at 82mm. ISO 800, 1/125th, f13, Aperture priority

The Bomba Bros. Farm, Seymour CT (a must read!)

The Bomba Bros. Farm 79 Great Hill Rd, Seymour, CT 06483 This article will take you on a short snippet of a family’s century long journey. What you will read encapsulates why I’ve spent years traveling around Southern CT photographing barns and farms. To me it represents a simpler time, a less cluttered time. A time when the work at hand was tackled by strong, disciplined families, with a work ethic that can only be emulated. A time when days were long, smiles were heartfelt and a someones “word” was their bond. There is a lot to learn and respect about this culture of American farmers. I will continue to…

    Richs Farm, Oxford CT

Rich Farm Ice Cream 691 Oxford Road (Rt 67) Oxford, Connecticut 06478 When Cheryl and I pulled the car along the side of Rt 67 to photograph this absolutely gorgeous barn it started raining.  I rolled down the drivers side window and was able to squeeze off two shots but it was raining to hard that I had to close the window and call it a day.  Fortunately when I got home I was glad to see that I got a decent shot. (The following excerpt is copied verbatim from the Rich Farm Ice Cream website): The Story of Rich Farm Ice Cream Rich Farm Ice Cream opened for business…

Setting sun on a beautifully aged Meriden barn.

I had my list of barns to find this day and when I came upon this one it did not disappoint.  Not only had it aged beautifully but, typically, any barn scene with majestic silos will usually shine in an image. Just on the other side of the barn, (out of picture), were about a half dozen dairy cows in a small pasture. Photographed with a Sony Nex 7, 24MP, mirrorless camera and Sony 18-55 mm lens at 36mm. 1/320th, f11, ISO 400, Aperture priority.

    Beautiful Barns in Suffield, CT

[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”6000″ height=”900″ lightbox=”true”]I thought the snow played nicely with the overall appeal of these photo’s.  Frankly I couldn’t tell if these barns are in use or not.  The large old “cow barn” is the most beautiful barn I’d ever seen.  I suspect it’s been re-purposed but to what end I don’t know.  It’s maintained beautifully and makes quite a statement.  I couldn’t resist capturing this photograph in Suffield in north/central CT not far from the MA border. Taken with my Fuji Finepix F100fd 12mp pocket camera.
