    Lavender Pond Farm, Killingworth CT

318 Roast Meat Hill Rd, Killingworth, CT 06419 Cheryl and I stopped at this beautiful Lavender Farm recently in the countryside of Killingworth CT. They grow lavender to infuse in many of their products that they sell in their country store which is on the property. The serenity of the farm made it all worth while. It was so peaceful, and the staff was polite and accommodating. The kids and family can even go aboard the “Lavender Express” and have a nice slow train ride around the property. If you plan on having picnic on the property bring your own food as they don’t sell food there. The pond is…

Grazing Horses in the fall……….Hamden CT

I took a ride over to the Hamden Polo Grounds to see what I could find. It was a beautiful fall day and leaves were dropping fast. They had four fenced in fields camera accessible from the road to pick from. Each one had horses but varying backgrounds. I ultimately chose the image, with the three horses, as my favorite. It framed the horses nicely and had the most colorful fall backdrop. Photographed with a Sony Nex 7, 24.3MP, APS-C mirrorless camera and a Sony 18-55 F3.5-5.6 lens @ 54mm (35mm = 81mm). 1/320th, f5.6, ISO 800, Aperture Priority

    Christian Barn in Harwinton CT

I love everything about this stoic looking barn sitting high on a Harwinton CT hillside. It has quite a presence and the addition of a cross made crudely out of two pieces of unfinished lumber tells it all. Perhaps there is a message as the bright light from above breaks through the clouds and makes it’s presence on the barn. Photographed with a Sony A7RII, 42MP, full framed, mirrorless camera and a Sony 24-105 F4 lens @ 43mm. ISO 200, 1/160th, f11, Aperture Priority

Beautiful abandoned house in Harwinton CT

While barn hunting in Harwinton CT I came upon this gorgeous abandoned house. I’m sure it’s fairly old as it rests on a stone foundation. Back in the day I’m sure this was a beautiful home but, for whatever reason, the current owners have elected to let it slowly deteriorate. As tattered curtains hang from the windows this home awaits a better day. I’m sure it can be brought back if someone is willing to invest the money. It doesn’t seem that far gone to me but depends on the inside. It’s situated on a good sized lot in a nice neighborhood.

    Country Horse Barn, Durham CT

Cheryl and I were driving back from our hike at Millers Pond State Park where we happened upon this serene country scene in Durham CT. I was able to quickly pull over and take the photograph from my drivers side window. It’s a one horse show…………..

Another day of barn hunting with my beautiful wife Cheryl. This barn was on a fairly well traveled route through Harwinton CT. However, having said that bear in mind Harwinton only has population of about 5000 people so it’s still a nice country road. I only had this one angle on the barn and I couldn’t wait for the horse to be in a better position because I was being eyeballed by an individual who I don’t think wanted me there. So it was one and done and out in a minute for this photographer. Fortunately I was able to walk away with an acceptable image. Photographed with a Sony…
