Butterflies & Birds
Cheryl and I went looking for unique birds and butterflies this day. I captured the brown monarch, spicebush swallowtail, butterfly using a Nikon D7100 with a Nikon 80-400 lens at 290mm (35mm equiv.=435mm). 1/3200th, f6.3, ISO 1800, Manual Mode. I also photographed the yellow, eastern tiger swallowtail, butterfly using a Nikon D7100 with a Nikon 80-400 lens at 400mm (35mm equiv .= 600mm.) 1/1000th, f6.3, ISO 1250, Manual Mode. Chery photographed the yellow bird, an American Goldfinch, using a Nikon D7100 with a Nikon 80-400 lens a 400mm (35mm equiv. = 600mm.) 1/1600th, f7.1, ISO 1600, Manual Mode.

Ron DiCostanzo shares Alaska photos!

Back in June of 2015 Ron, along with his wife, flew out to the area of Juneau Alaska which borders British Columbia Canada and hopped on a boat to try out his new Canon 7D Mark II (birders dream camera). He knew he could capture some good Eagle and Whale shots in this part of the world and his trip didn’t fail him. Hawks – Stratford CT shoreline
[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”7000″ height=”800″ lightbox=”true”]My friend Ron, (one of the best surf casting photographers you’ll ever find), treated me to a late afternoon birding session at a Stratford CT shoreline to photograph hawks. This is an area that Ron frequents often and it has a lot of hawk activity while at the same time very few people. Ron knows a lot more about this type of photography than me and taught me where to sit and the best way to photograph them without intruding on their space.
