Beautiful barn with (3) silos, Haddam CT
This folks is the reason I chase barns and capture their imges to retain throughout history, even long after some of them are gone. They are simply beautiful. Here’s what sets this barn apart for me. It sloping roof. It’s cluster of three silos. Two are fairly common but three not so much and of varying heights and widths. I know I probably need therapy but silo’s do it for me. I was on my way to photograph another barn in Bethlehem when I spotted this farm scene off in a distance. It doesn’t appear that the buildings are actively being used but the presence of a tractor implies to me that the grounds are still being upkept. Old Mill Pond Village Shops, Granby CT
Old Mill Pond Village Shops 383 Salmon Brook St. Granby, CT 06035 (860) 653-3433 I stumbled upon this place by accident while in the neighborhood photographing the Old New-Gate Prison. This particular day it had been closed so I had the entire grounds to myself to take some photographs. The Old Mill Pond Village offers top brand furniture to knick knacks for the house and everything in between. Really seems like an interesting place to take in. All images photographed with a Sony A7RV, 61mp, mirrorless full frame camera. A Sony 10-20 mm f.4 and a Sony 24-70 F2.8 lens were used.

Picture perfect barn in Woodbury CT
On the way back from a photoshoot in Roxbury Cheryl and I, by chance, happened upon this beautiful old barn in Woodbury. It’s been in the family for many years and belonged to the current owners Grandfather. This is not its original site as the entire barn and foundation were moved here at one time. There had been an addition in the rear which had suffered a collapse. This is one of the most beautiful barns I’ve ever had the pleasure of photographing with its unique styling and weathered barn board. A perfect barn in Southbury.
I’ve been after this barn for months but there were always cars parked in front of it and people working in or around it which precluded me from taking the shot. Although, this day, there was one person working in the barn I knew it wouldn’t get much better than this so I took my shots. With no real place to park my car I just idled across the street for a brief second to take the wide angle shot. I left, changed lenses, then returned idling once again for another second or two and took my closer shots. I must say this is one of the most pristine nicely…

Old barn in Avon.
Cheryl and I were driving through Avon just enjoying the fall day. Virtually every barn we passed I had photographed before years ago, including this one. A Return visit to Brooksvale (Park) Farm….more pics.
Brooksvale Park Farm, 524 Brooksvale Ave, Hamden, CT 06518 Cheryl and I initially visited these barns/farm to take this picture: The Barn at Brooksvale Park – Journey Thru My Lens (journeysthrumylens.com) . I returned a couple of weeks later and spent some time walking around the farm taking more images. I believe these barns were constructed by the Brooks family in the 1700’s. It’s very peaceful out here at the park and I would think would make a nice visit for families with small children mainly because of the animals.
