Barn on Whitmore Rd., Middlebury CT
This was another barn on our list for Cheryl and I today in the town of Middlebury CT. It’s situated on Whitmore Rd. with it’s “modern” looking garage door entrance. I suspect that the owners park their cars in there and needed a working automated garage door. However, it’s the garage door that gives this barn an unusual look. All in all it has a nice appearance tucked away amongst the surrounding foliage. Photographed with a Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-55 lens @ 42mm (63mm = 33mm equiv.) 1/320th, f16, ISO 500, Aperture Priority

Beautiful entrance in Milford
I was on my way back from Milford Photo and I was going through the downtown area I saw this beautiful home. The stonework, the wooden shingles, the vintage style front door which was made all the better by the presence of “Old Glory” swinging in the breeze in the form of the Betsy Ross 13 star rendition. To me this was America, this was New England. I had to pull over and take a photo. I didn’t have any of my gear with me but I did have a pocket camera in the car for just such “emergencies”. Taken with a Fujifilm F100fd, 12MP, finepix camera. 1/320th, f4, ISO…

Barn between the Elms
Cheryl and I were chasing down a list of barns we wanted to shoot in Avon CT this chilly December day in 2018. Down the street from one of the ones on our list, low and behold, was this beauty. It was situated in an open field a considerable distance off. When photographed that way it lacked any interest. I then switched to a medium telephoto lens and stepped back into the roadway so I could frame the barn with the two elm trees. The telephoto helped “compress” the image bringing the barn closer to the trees. There was horribly harsh sunlight that day but fortunately the bulk of the…

Hop River State Park Trail Bridge, Andover CT
In 2012 this beautiful foot bridge was installed to complete a major gap in the rails to trails walkway which runs from Manchester to Willimantic through Hop River State Park spanning Rt. 316 below. Before the bridge was in place most folks were forced to stop and turn around as there was no easy way to get to the other side. Not any more. PLEASE NOTE: This image was digitally altered in the area the ground under the bridge for artistic quality. Photographed with Nikon D7100 and 18-55 zoom lens.
