Abandoned Consolidated Tobacco Company
The Consolidated Cigar Company in Glastonbury, CT *I, along with my wife Cheryl and our dog Molly, photographed what remains of the Consolidated Cigar Company and tobacco fields on Hubbard St. in Glastonbury CT. Below is a brief summary of it’s history and future. The Consolidated Cigar Company was established int he early 1900s in Glastonbury, CT. It quickly grew to become of the towns largest employers and taxpayers. At its peak, the company owned up to 1900 acres of tobacco fields in town. The company’s main facility was a large warehouse on Hubbard St., which was used to store and pack tobacco. However, as the demand for shade-grown tobacco…

Abandoned BG Graphics Sign Company, Meriden CT
For years and years I’ve driven by this abandoned BG Graphics building on the Berlin Turnpike in Meriden CT. I finally took the time to photograph it. When I see a building that has become completely engulfed by the surrounding environment I’m always intrigued. In front of the building was, at one time, a paved parking lot. However, nature has taken that over as well. I’m sure this company was thriving back in the day and, for whatever reason, it’s just a memory. Although I find abandoned building photography interesting that’s not to say that I’m not without empathy for the people and circumstances that led to this. I wish…

Abandoned but a canvas to many………..Plymouth CT
Abandoned building in Plymouth CT. It’s been like this for years and years. It had to have been at least 15 years ago that I photographed this building but from the other side. I love the colorful graffiti. If you look carefully into the right side of the image you’ll see the silhouette of a woman standing in one of the openings. I don’t know what occupied this building back in the day. It’s very visible from the road and I’m sure one of our readers must know what this was. Please write in and let us know if you do. Photographed with a Sony A7RII, 42MP, full framed, mirrorless…

Abandoned Factory Dayville CT
[wzslider autoplay=”true” interval=”6000″ height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]This is what remains of an abandoned factory in Dayville, CT. I cannot determine for sure what factory this was. This is probably from the mid 1800’s. I would guess it was a woolen or fabric mill. Photo’s taken with a Samsun Galaxy Note 2, 8 mp, camera phone.
