Re-purposed Malleable Iron Fittings Company Factory
[wzslider autoplay=”true” height=”800″ lightbox=”true”]The Malleable Iron Fittings Company occupied this building from 1842-1962 at Indian Neck Ave, Branford, CT . As a foundry and manufacturer of iron fittings their chief market was steam heat. The 1960’s saw a substantial decline in sales for MIF which forced them to sell the company to Waltham Industries in 1969. Waltham had little success and basically liquidated the company in 1971. Just another example of the decline of industry in the State of Connecticut. I apologize for the poor pictures. I only had a cell phone with me which provided me little choice over the lens length. In addition, as you can see I…

Abandoned Cow Farm – Roxbury, CT
[wzslider autoplay=”true” height=”800″ lightbox=”true”]I visited Roxbury, CT for the purposes of photographing an iconic barn with an American flag painted on the side (which I did). However, while there I noticed this old abandoned cow farm. I’ve worked as an on the road salesman in CT for over 30 years and I don’t ever remember going to Roxbury, CT. This is certainly an out of the way, hidden gem, in the rolling hills of Litchfield, CT. I’m sure they have a “downtown” somewhere but I didn’t happen upon it. All I saw was farms and sprawling estates. Because of it’s reclusive nature this part of the world has been home…

Connecticut Trolley Museum – East Windsor, CT
[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]Connecticut Trolley Museum 58 North Road East Windsor, CT Location & hours of operation. Note: I have reviewed other Trolley Museums. To see those posts go to our search bar and enter the word “Trolley”. During late July Cheryl and I visited the Connecticut Trolley Museum. There are a handful of trolley cars outside but most were inside. Unfortunately my Sony Nex 7 camera suffers from overheating, (sometimes), when shooting video. As I had just shot a video this problem reared it’s ugly head. As a result when I went inside to photograph the cars I lost the ability to use flash. This caused me to shoot…

Abandoned Driving Range, Naugatuck, CT
[wzslider height=”800″ info=”true” lightbox=”true”]The best I can determine is that this driving range was originally the Valley Drive-In Threater on Rt. 63 in Naugatuck, Ct. The drive in operated from 1972 until 1980 when it was destroyed by fire. It was turned into a driving range. I do not know when the driving range closed.
